I’m sure we’ll hear about how liberal talk show hosts are every bit as bad, with some heavy doses of False Equivalence.

  2. Dennis says:

And the very first comment on the thread at Neither Think Nor Progress:

    From Dr. Hussein Matt–

“I hope Ingraham gets a plus-sized tumor recurrence. What a ugly disgusting excuse for a “human”.”
    ———-

    That’s how they roll.

  3. ed says:

Anonymous blog commenter = Prominent radio talk show host

That’s some industrial grade False Equivalence right there. (Any bets “Dr. Hussein Matt” is a ratfucking troll?)

  4. Quaker in a Basement says:

    Well allright.

If thin is what is needed, Ms. Coulter should be near the top of anyone’s list.

  5. fafaroo says:

And the very first comment on the thread at Neither Think Nor Progress:

Jesus Christ, Dennis. Do you really want to go down this road?

  6. Jaim says:

It’s like watching hamsters cannibalize each other.

    Go Republicans!

  7. dunesen says:

I’ve always liked the curvier ladies myself, and really can’t stand when women that are *barely* above the average are ridiculed as being fat. It’s especially frustrating when the skinny woman doing the insulting is butt-ugly (and for this, let’s point out that both Ingraham and Coulter are butt-ugly).

But I’m falling on McCain’s side here because not only is she so smexy, but she’s the voice of reason as well. Not in terms of Coulter being a raving lunatic alone, but also that she’s right about what the Republican party needs to do to become relevant again.

  8. Sean D. Martin says:

dunesen: …but also that she’s right about what the Republican party needs to do to become relevant again

I love the way the right is driving off everyone who points out how they can be effective or relevant again.

  9. SpiderJ says:

Meghan McCain is not allowed to have this opinion because she hasn’t been a Republican “long enough.”

Although I’d bet a fiver that a preschooler who one day said “I hate Obama!” would be touted as the future of the party.

  10. ed says:

MM: I think that Ann Coulter is a bit extreme.

Republican base: Fatty fatty fat fat!

  11. ed says:

Jesus Christ, Dennis. Do you really want to go down this road?

Maybe he was “kidding” again. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

  12. daniel rotter says:

Ingraham’s done this sort of nonsense before. In criticizing Helen Thomas, she called her “grandma.” Classy lady.

  13. SFC B says:

Ingraham’s done this sort of nonsense before. In criticizing Helen Thomas, she called her “grandma.”

Every knows Helen Tomas passed “grandma” back during the Hoover administration.

  14. This is better than Mean Girls and Heathers!
Let the classy crew fight it out.

And I’m still confused why the odious yet unelected Ann Coulter inspires such outrage when the odious yet very much elected incompetent Sarah Palin escapes Ms. McCain’s commentary.

  15. Parthenon says:

My particular favorite lady describes her body type as ‘gadunka.’

And, respectfully, Laura can go eff herself.

  16. C.S.Strowbridge says:

Making fun of a woman’s weight because you disagree with her politics is low. Very low.

Low even compared to Laura Ingram’s standards.

“And, respectfully, Laura can go eff herself.”

    I second that motion.

  17. Dennis says:

Making fun of a woman’s weight because you disagree with her politics is low. Very low. Strowbridge

On a sanctimony scale of 1-10, this statement registers a 12.

  18. Jaim says:

Dennis, you should avoid using words you don’t know the meaning of, e.g., anything longer than one syllable.

  19. Dennis says:

Dennis, you should avoid using words you don’t know the meaning of, e.g., anything longer than one syllable. –”Where’s Jaim?”

Show me one quote from Strowbridge where he scolds someone for calling Ingraham or Coulter skinny, or even the obligatory fat jokes on every Limbaugh thread and we’ll talk about the definition of sanctimony, Teach.

  20. C.S.Strowbridge says:

Dennis the Bigot: “Show me one quote from Strowbridge where he scolds someone for calling Ingraham or Coulter skinny,”

Yeah, cause there’s massive social pressure on woman to avoid getting too skinny.

There are millions of women who have battled with eating disorders because every time they look in the mirror they see themselves as too skinny.

Are you really this fucking stupid?

  21. Dennis says:

    Even more sanctimony from Strowbridge.

    Angry too. How shocking.

  22. fafaroo says:

Show me one quote from Strowbridge where he scolds someone for calling Ingraham or Coulter skinny, or even the obligatory fat jokes on every Limbaugh thread and we’ll talk about the definition of sanctimony, Teach.

Show me one quote from Dennis in this very thread where he scolds Inghram for attacking McCain’s daughters weight, instead of her actual comments about Coulter, and we’ll talk about the definition of idiot hack.

Dennis, Meghan McCain is criticizing Coulter for the same reasons and in much the same manner as David Frum criticizes Limbaugh, and guess what? She’s getting the same treatment from the far right hacks that Frum got. She’s lectured, ridiculed and villified.

And all for committing the crime of telling Republicans that if they ever wants to be able to accomplish anything in this country it has to stop taking its talking points from assholes.

    And you really don’t care.

  23. ed says:

On a sanctimony scale of 1-10, this statement registers a 12.

Shorter Dennis: What Laura Ingraham said was awesome! She’s another Rush!

  24. Dennis says:

Idiot hackery, dear fafaroo, is suddenly pretending to care what Meghan McCain says when you never did before. If I was a disingenuous idiot hack like you, I would do that.

She’s never said anything I felt was worth commenting about. She’s no different than most of you guys save for a famous father; young, naive and she blogs.

And Laura Ingraham had much more to say about her than her weight. If you’d taken the time to read what she said about Meghan McCain, you’d know that. Instead you take the easy route and listen to the cropped audio of just the weight quote.

Consider your own hackery before you call someone else that, fafaroo. You’re not quite as sanctimonious as Strowbridge, but you’re gettin’ there.

  25. fafaroo says:

If you’d taken the time to read what she said about Meghan McCain, you’d know that. Instead you take the easy route and listen to the cropped audio of just the weight quote.

Forget the nastiness! Forget the name calling! Laura Ingraham has a point!

Gosh, Dennis, would you like to take the time to link to the serious and thoughtful portions of Ingraham’s comments?

  26. Dennis says:

Gosh, Dennis, would you like to take the time to link to the serious and thoughtful portions of Ingraham’s comments? fafaroo

Are you admitting that you didn’t do that already, and that’s not hackery on your part?

  27. ed says:

Are you admitting that you didn’t do that already, and that’s not hackery on your part?

Shorter Dennis: A certain 20th Century German leader made the trains run on time!

  28. Dennis says:

    Fafaroo-

I quoted the douchebag Dr. Hussein Matt up above because I know the guy well. He’s the equivalent of you and Strowbridge at Think Progress. A disingenous, sanctimonious little WATB who would never condone trying to get along with the other side if his life depended on it. I’ve read a thousand times the guy telling people there is no middle ground, that the middle ground is for pussies. And now he defends Meghan McCain because she takes the easy route for her to notoriety by announcing she is going to take on Ann Coulter, knowing full well she gets the full media attention when she does it. So when Dr. Matt announces that he hopes Laura Ingraham gets a reoccurence of cancer and feels sorry that Meghan McCain was dumped on, knowing full well that he’d be far worse on McCain if she had defended Coulter on the liberal Daily Beast site where she blogs, he’d be giving her far worse treatment than Ingraham did. And so would you and Strowbridge.

Did the left wing blogs gain in popularity these last four years by being nice and telling the assholes in their party to STFU and try to get along?

I don’t think so. So please stop with the sanctimony and the disingenuousness, fafaroo. It doesn’t wear well with you.

  29. fafaroo says:

And now he defends Meghan McCain because she takes the easy route for her to notoriety by announcing she is going to take on Ann Coulter, knowing full well she gets the full media attention when she does it.

Ah yes. She’s only doing it for fame and fortune. There’s no other reason why anyone would ever advocate that maybe, just maybe, Coulter and Limbaugh are bad for the brand.

But no wait! Let’s not just impugn her motives and attack her weight! Let’s also tell her to STFU because no one wants to hear about how Ann Coulter is destroying the electoral chances of the Republican party! In fact, we need more radical assholes at the top of our party!

Dennis, I really don’t give a fuck what McCain’s daughter says about most things in part because most things I’ve heard her say I disagree with. But when she’s right, she’s right and there’s no reason to mock her for it.

But Dennis, so you think Coulter is an asshole, do you? Really?

  30. ed says:

A disingenous, sanctimonious little WATB who would never condone trying to get along with the other side if his life depended on it.

I bet you know that guy well (although your disingenuousness is questionable–I fear you believe the shit you write).

Do you think it’s possible that “Dr. Hussein Matt” is a ratfucking troll for people like you (Dennis) to promote? I do.

  31. ed says:

But Dennis, so you think Coulter is an asshole, do you? Really?

Dude, Dennis defends Rush “Who cares about [black people]!” Limbaugh. I bet he thinks Coulter isn’t an asshole either.

  32. Dennis says:

But when she’s right, she’s right and there’s no reason to mock her for it. fafaroo

That makes no sense, fafaroo. Ingraham doesn’t think she’s right.

Almost all you guys mock with impunity anyone you disagree with. That’s the point, fafaroo. So when you think Meghan McCain is right about something, you act all shocked that someone on the right would mock her.

You’ve now admitted both your own hackery and your disingenuousness. When you disagree with someone there are no limits to the mockery. But when you agree with a conservative, you act offended that anyone would mock her.

And, please, ‘radical assholes at the top of our party’. Our country just elected a man President that’s spent his entire life working with, dealing with, writing with and worshiping with radical assholes and you don’t have the slightest problem with that.

There is no consistency whatsoever to your arguments. Yet you call me a hack.

  33. Duros62 says:

Instead you take the easy route and listen to the cropped audio of just the weight quote.

Oh, like when Obama said something about Jessica Simpson to Lauer and the right jumped on a misread transcript for 3 days? Like that?

Our country just elected a man President that’s spent his entire life working with, dealing with, writing with and worshiping with radical assholes and you don’t have the slightest problem with that.

Yes, but you see, Denny, despite all that, HE isn’t a radical asshole.

    That’s the difference.
    do you get that?

  34. Dennis says:

Yes, but you see, Denny, despite all that, HE isn’t a radical asshole. That’s the difference. do you get that? Duros

Far, far greater minds than yours and mine disagree on that, Duros.

Nevertheless, Ann Coulter doesn’t hold elected office, much less the office of the Presidency.

    That’s the difference.
    Do you get that?

  35. Duros62 says:

Far, far greater minds than yours and mine disagree on that, Duros.

    Really? Who? Glen Beck?

<iNevertheless, Ann Coulter doesn’t hold elected office, much less the office of the Presidency.

    That’s the difference.
    Do you get that?

Dude, you brought up the false equivalence. No nedd to get snitty.

  36. Duros62 says:

Nevertheless, Ann Coulter doesn’t hold elected office, much less the office of the Presidency.

Might I add, neither do any of the people you mentioned.

  37. fafaroo says:

When you disagree with someone there are no limits to the mockery.

When someone lies or makes assertions based on lies or distorted facts, they deserve to be mocked on those grounds. There’s very little excuse these days for not having your facts straight so it’s all the more egregious when some troll here comes spouting bullshit either without any evidence or the correct facts.

Like someone who makes extreme, unsupportable statements such as “Obama is a socialist who will destroy this country as we know it” or “Obama isn’t helping small businesses but he’s going to give my hard earned money to irresponsible people who took a second mortgage to build a pool in their backyard.” And that guy who was giving hour by hour updates on the stock market as the most flawless and perfect barometer of Obama’s presidency who suddenly didn’t have much to say about the DOW this past Tues., Wed. and Thurs.

You know, stuff like that deserves to be mocked for the empty-headed bullshit it is.

In her criticism of Coulter, Meagan McCain didn’t make anything up about her or lie about her career or her personality, or, really say anything all that extreme or radical. McCain’s argument against Coulter is a very straight forward and simple one: “I hope viewers understand Ann Coulter is not the woman we Republicans need representing us right now.”

For that Ingraham has to go after McCain’s weight on the public airwaves? Really? Seriously? This is the reasonable and rational debate you pride yourself in as a conservative?

Dennis if you want to defend Coulter go for it. If you want to defend Ingraham go for it. But his constant concern troll bullshit is just that.

  38. Parthenon says:

Our country just elected a man President that’s spent his entire life working with, dealing with, writing with and worshiping with radical assholes and you don’t have the slightest problem with that.

Well, no. Not until he himself does or says something radical. I’m quite fortunate to belong to a culture that judges people generally based on their own actions and words, rather than those of the people around them.

I’m skeptical as to how great somebody’s mind could be if that can’t even grasp that very basic principle.

  39. ed says:

Dennis if you want to defend Coulter go for it. If you want to defend Ingraham go for it.

    That’s how Dennis rolls.

  40. Zython says:

Far, far greater minds than yours and mine disagree on that, Duros.

    Yours, maybe.

I quoted the douchebag Dr. Hussein Matt up above because I know the guy well. He’s the equivalent of you and Strowbridge at Think Progress. A disingenous, sanctimonious little WATB who would never condone trying to get along with the other side if his life depended on it. And so would you and Strowbridge.

So your argument is that Dr. Hussein Matt is a hypocrite, since he would treat McCain differently if the situation was different? Say it isn’t so!

Shorter Dennis: A certain 20th Century German leader made the trains run on time!

    Mussolini was Italian.

On a sanctimony scale of 1-10, this statement registers a 12.

Translation: “Sure I kill puppies, but if you call me a puppy-killer, you’re being sanctimonious.”

Face it, Dennis, Laura’s an America-hating asshole, and so are you. There’s nothing sanctimonious of calling a spade a spade. Deal with it.

  41. Duros62 says:

And now he defends Meghan McCain because she takes the easy route for her to notoriety by announcing she is going to take on Ann Coulter, knowing full well she gets the full media attention when she does it.

I like how expressing one’s opinion (i.e., I don’t get Ann Coulter’s schtick) is “taking her on.”

  42. Tyro says:

Dennis, Laura Ingram would call your mother fat if she could get away with it.

working with, dealing with, writing with and worshiping with radical assholes

Your right to express any outrage over that ended somewhere around the election season of 2000.

  43. C.S.Strowbridge says:

Dennis the Bigot: “Even more sanctimony from Strowbridge.
    Angry too. How shocking.”

And you didn’t even try argue against my point.

There is a difference between calling a woman fat and calling her skinny. Or calling a man fat.

There are nuances in life that you are just not mentally equipped to handle. You need a black & white world view, which is why you are a conservative.
