That’s precisely why he’s scary. Frum, a Canadian, could not find a political home here. Being a political entrepreneur, he left the maple leaf for the stars and stripes. Good Riddance.

It’s still awesome though. Frum is smart enough to realize that Obama and Rahm have played the Republican party like a fiddle (beginning with Obama’s quip that you can’t listen to Rush and get anything done). Frum knows that Rush’s support is about 15-20 percent of the country, with no potential for growth (if you aren’t in to Rush by now, you never will be). He also knows that making Rush the face of the party, as Obama and Rahm have managed to do, is pretty much another kiss-of-death for the GOP. The party is desperate for votes from any non-white non-males under the age of 50, and they aren’t going to get any with a serial bigot like Rush shooting his mouth off while sweating and bloviating and popping pills.

The cons who are supporting Rush? Masters of wishful thinking. If they really think he’s the future of their party, more power to them. Not repudiating the Democratic contention that Rush = GOP Grand Poobah means at least another decade in the wilderness.
