Oh my, talk about castrated.
Well, we know who is top dog on the right. It’s like we’ve been saying: Rush Limbaugh.
Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele says he has reached out to Rush Limbaugh to tell him he meant no offense when he referred to the popular conservative radio host as an “entertainer” whose show can be “incendiary.”
“My intent was not to go after Rush – I have enormous respect for Rush Limbaugh,” Steele said in a telephone interview. “I was maybe a little bit inarticulate. … There was no attempt on my part to diminish his voice or his leadership.”
Jesus, that is pathetic. A bigoted pill-popping knuckle dragging blow hard is running a major political party, and nobody over there has even half a ball to stand up to him.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs got it just right in today’s briefing.
I think that — I think maybe the best question, though, is for you to ask individual Republicans whether they agree with what Rush Limbaugh said this weekend. Do they want to see the President’s economic agenda fail? You know, I bet there are a number of guests on television throughout the day and maybe into tomorrow who could let America know whether they agree with what Rush Limbaugh said this weekend.
You know, I mean, I think he — I mean, I think it would be charitable to say he doubled down on what he said in January in wishing and hoping for economic failure in this country. I can only imagine what might have been said a few years ago if somebody might have said that on the other side relating to what was going on in this country or our endeavors overseas. You know, I’d like to think, and I think most people would like to think, that we can put aside our differences and get things done for the American people.
I will say, in watching a few cable clips of Mr. Limbaugh’s speech, his notion of presidential failure seemed to be quite popular in the room in which he spoke.
UPDATE: Democratic chairman and VA Governor Tim Kaine adds some more:
“I was briefly encouraged by the courageous comments made my counterpart in the Republican Party over the weekend challenging Rush Limbaugh as the leader of the Republican Party and referring to his show as ‘incendiary’ and ‘ugly.’ However, Chairman Steele’s reversal this evening and his apology to Limbaugh proves the unfortunate point that Limbaugh is the leading force behind the Republican Party, its politics and its obstruction of President Obama’s agenda in Washington. Just this weekend, Rush Limbaugh repeated his claim that he is rooting for the President to fail. The last time Rush Limbaugh said he wanted the President to fail, virtually every single Republican in Congress followed his lead and voted against the President’s plan to create or save 3.5 million jobs.
“As Congress works to pass the President’s budget, Republicans need to stop following divisive figures like Rush Limbaugh, stop apologizing to him and put aside the failed politics of the past so we can put our economy back on track, reform our health care system, break our dependence on foreign oil, improve our schools, and lay the foundation for long-term growth in the 21st Century.”

Actually took longer than I thought it would.
Rush Rulz the COP!
This is AWESOME!
Most Americans hate Rush Limbaugh, and by painting the GOP as the Party of Rush, it will make victories in 2010 a lot easier.
It will also make it a lot more fun to laugh at the right-wing ‘tards who think we are scared of Rush.
This is clearly good for John McCain.
Just another Republican tongue-ing Rush’s ear.
CRIPPLE FIIIIIIIIGHT!
…sweeeeet…
Okay, conservative commenters, the chairman of your fucking party has now kowtowed to the emperor.
Whose party is it again?
The best comment on this is from Andrew Sullivan, found via Balloon Juice:
The GOP is making a dandy bed for itself. John Boehner said that the Democrats have been offering the public a free lunch for the last 80 years. You do the math. Is that a policy recommendation from Boehner?
One thing I am sure Hoover did not do, I notice that Boehner has been swaggering around like a cheap 20s hood lately. He’s been glancing around all confident like and as if getting ready to whistle a happy little tune before he kicks some teeth in.
He needs a nickname: Johnny the Bone? (He’s got a bone to pick, see. Ha ha).
And what’s up with Eric Cantor, didn’t he disagree with Limbaugh? How come Cantor gets a pass?
STEPHANOPOULOS: So the Rush Limbaugh approach of hoping the president fails is not the Eric Cantor , House Republican approach?
CANTOR: George, absolutely not. And I don’t — I don’t think anyone wants anything to fail right now. We have such challenges.

Dennis, Jay Tea, and Dave in SoCal need to tell us which whore they want to introduce to their parents.
JT is on record as not liking Rush. Who’s your leader now?
This place is all Rush all the time. If this blog had music it would be set to ‘My City’s Was Gone’ by the Pretenders.
Not one word on Roland Burris- too embarrassing.
Yet another Obama Administration tax cheat- Yes, really.
DOW down another 300 pts.- They think it’s not their problem
Bogus story on the Santelli plant taken down by Playboy after it turns out not to be true– Embarrassing, don’t expect a retraction by any liberal blog that wet their pants over it.
Look over there!
Dennis (translated): “OOH–look up there! A bird!”
Look over there? You guys are one-trick ponies.
After the tongue lashing, it was only a matter of time. I was hoping against all hope for gonads, but alas another repub bends over – you know how to squeal don’t you, just put your cheeks together and blow!
Dennis, you seem to think that comments about Rush and the castrated Steele following a post on that subject are inappropriate, and that your thoughts on other subjects are far more interesting than comments on the post itself. That the “comments” here are what other bloggers call an “open thread.”
But only a pathological narcissist who has no useful argument would respond that way.
Wait.
Why don’t you start your own blog so you can give your thoughts all the depth they deserve? You could choose your own subjects instead of trying to change OW’s. And OW would still outdraw you by 1000-1. That ol’ free market in ideas bites, doesn’t it?
Here kitty, kitty—I mean, Michael . . . . .
Rush Limbaugh is a racist asshole.
.
Ah, I didn’t realize that when Rush was talking about Operation Chaos, he was talking about inflicting chaos on his own party.
I like him better all the time.
Verily I say unto you, the man who diggeth a pit for his neighbor… or something like that.
Why don’t you start your own blog so you can give your thoughts all the depth they deserve? You could choose your own subjects instead of trying to change OW’s… Repack Rider
I think I’ll keep my day job, RR, but thanks for the words of encouragement. I was keeping it on topic in that I spoke of Limbaugh; it’s just that it’s rather telling of you guys that you’d rather talk about Rush than the events of the day, things that are far more important to both parties and the country as a whole. You guys won, and you are still obsessed with Rush. Ha ha, funny, funny. Meanwhile, Rome burns. And you call yourselves the serious ones.
Good one.
But, but, Dennis— this post is about an event of the day. GOP implosion.
Everything else is sooooo bleak–CIA destroying tapes, Bush’s emails
showing he was a lunatic dictator, we need some humor. You know,
Ha ha, funny, funny . . . . .
http://newsone.blackplanet.com/elections/top-10-racist-limbaugh-quotes/
You guys won, and you are still obsessed with Rush. Ha ha, funny, funny.
This is the part where we laugh at our victims. It’s like the end of the western when Clint Eastwood talks to the dying bad guy, and after venting The Durango Kid’s spleen with a couple of .44 rounds, he insults him until he takes his last breath. Then he puts out his stogie in the corpse’s eye. Your participation is not required, but as long as you’re here, we’ll laugh at you too.
Isn’t it too too funny that the GOP leader is a drug addicted, overweight, megalomaniac, narcissistic, impotent, money laundering racist with a fondness for underage Dominican prostitutes, a whore who knows nothing of American history, but whose ring must be kissed by any GOP contender? And that the President of the United States is 180-degrees opposite of everything Limbaugh stands for?
If you’re watching two whores fight you’re hoping they both have a lot of stamina, because you want it to go on for as long as possible.
My sides hurt from laughing, Dennis. You?
Robert Gibbs isnt paying attention: the economy *IS* failing, and every move Obama makes only drags it down further. Rush, as it turns out, was right.
the economy *IS* failing, and every move Obama makes only drags it down further. Rush, as it turns out, was right.
Mr. Limbaugh is never right. Every word out of his mouth is uttered in service of the Republican Party. And now, he’s asserted his ownership of the party.
Are you trying to wish away the last eight years of economic mismanagment? Did Mr. Obama preside over the 6 percent decline in GDP in the fourth quarter of last year? Was he at the helm when AIG–the largest insurance company on the planet–went belly up, taking the rest of the financial sector with it?
Keep listening to Rush.
Dennis: “You guys won, and you are still obsessed with Rush. Ha ha, funny, funny.”
Steele apologized to Rush. It seems we are not the only ones obsessed with him.
“Meanwhile, Rome burns. And you call yourselves the serious ones.”
You guys were the ones who set fire to Rome, and your only solution is more fire.
“Are you trying to wish away the last eight years of economic mismanagment? Did Mr. Obama preside over the 6 percent decline in GDP in the fourth quarter of last year? Was he at the helm when AIG–the largest insurance company on the planet–went belly up, taking the rest of the financial sector with it?”
Direct warning of an upcoming terrorist attack = Covering your ass.
Being election during the worst economic collapse in decades = All Obama’s fault.
Fortunately only about 25% of the population believe that and most accept that things will get worse before they get better.
Any signs of recovery before 2010 will spell doom for the GOP.
“This is clearly good for John McCain.”
This joke will never get old. I lurve it.
“JT is on record as not liking Rush.”
JT is on record as supposedly not being a Republican, either. Yet he’s usually swift to come into any thread, even non-related ones, and mention how Jindal and Palin are great leaders and Obama and Biden are terrible.
Which is to say, Jay is incredibly full of shit. But everybody already knew that.
Dennis? He’s just mildly retarded. I pity the poor guy a bit.
Oliver – you, like most liberals, make no sense.
“knuckle dragging blow hard”. Gosh – thats intelligent liberal rebuttal for you.
Your just a typical intellectually lazy liberal who couldnt put together an argument if your life depended on it.

I was able to find employment in the United States, guys. I don’t go on blogs to complain that because of Republicans I couldn’t get a job as a school teacher or a DVD critic and that Republican policies made me leave a country I need to convince people I still love. Douchebags.
Conservatives want you guys to be successful. Here, in this country.
“I was able to find employment in the United States, guys. I don’t go on blogs to complain that because of Republicans I couldn’t get a job as a school teacher or a DVD critic and that Republican policies made me leave a country I need to convince people I still love. Douchebags.”
Two points…
1.) I have a job in the States. I don’t live in the States, and I’m never have, but I have a job with an American company.
2.) “…made me leave a country I need to convince people I still love.” You don’t try and convince people you love the United States, because you hate it. You hate what it stands for, because it stands for Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. (And for good reason. “Cigarette Dangles” rocks.)
On a side note, English language teachers are in huge demand in South Korea. You can easily get paid more to live there and teach, and getting paid more if you can is what capitalism is all about. Why do you hate capitalism?
Furthermore, South Korea rocks. Most online nation in the world and they lead the planet in a number of technological areas.
Dennis,
Rush. being one of the demigods (The gods being Money and hate)of cons has stated he dose NOT want this country to succeed. And he said it here in this country.
“Conservatives want you guys to be successful. Here, in this country.”
Funny, I make a fair amount more living abroad than I could under the Bush II economy. And fwiw, I could always find a job in the States, I just couldn’t make as much as I’m worth.
But now that an adult is back in charge, I appreciate the option of moving back to the States when the time comes. At least, once the Bush/Republican Recession dies down.
Thanks for your concern Dennis! Always a pleasure!
/on preview, I notice CS Stowbridge made my point. Yeah, life is good here. Americans are usually pretty well regarded, but Bush II was reviled. And South Koreans are excited about Obama’s presidency. I can’t blame ‘em. Nobody can.
On a side note, English language teachers are in huge demand in South Korea. You can easily get paid more to live there and teach, and getting paid more if you can is what capitalism is all about. –Southern Strategy
Good for him, but he said he couldn’t get a job here in the States so he left the country.
Rush. being one of the demigods (The gods being Money and hate)of cons has stated he dose NOT want this country to succeed. And he said it here in this country. –Grumpyman
G-man, if i haven’t thanked you already for your help on the Openoffice advice you gave me, I am now. Solved my problem, thanks.
It’s not worth debating when we both know what he said and what he meant. He wants you to succeed. I want you to succeed. Our ideas of success (yours and mine) may be very different, but I still want you to succeed. If success to Obama means making people dependent on the state then Rush doesn’t want that intention of Obama’s to succeed. You hae a stock market that is very hesitant also of this ideas for what constitute success, though Democrats choose to look the other way and claim it is no indicator of their current success. I disagree.
Dennis: “Good for him, but he said he couldn’t get a job here in the States so he left the country.”
Really? Got a quote to back that up, because you can’t count past two, so I’m pretty sure you are wrong here.
Funny, I make a fair amount more living abroad than I could under the Bush II economy. And fwiw, I could always find a job in the States, I just couldn’t make as much as I’m worth. –Jaims
Good for you, Jaims. But you said you couldn’t get a job over here so you had to leave the country. Now you go on a blog and laugh at people over here working and contributing and donating to causes here that help Americans and this country, which is sorely in need of all it’s citizens doing at the moment. You laugh at them because they don’t think like you and it makes you proud to do it. If everyone did what you did it’d be a pretty fucked up country. Sorry I don’t ascribe to yours and the Dixie Chicks’ style of asserting your patriotism. Creep.
——-
But now that an adult is back in charge, I appreciate the option of moving back to the States when the time comes. At least, once the Bush/Republican Recession dies down. –Jaims
Good on you, Jaims. Once the gettin’ gets good again you’ll come back to help out. What a wonderful gesture we can all look forward to.
You are just the poster child of the typical liberal mindset at the moment, aren’t you?
“I’m sorry! Please let me go on the Dominican sex tour”-Michael Steele to Rush
“But you said you couldn’t get a job over here so you had to leave the country.”
If I ever said that, I was exaggerating. I had a job before I left, it just wasn’t very satisfying and it didn’t pay me what I’m worth. Granted, I decided to move to a small town for family reasons, so that kind of took me out of a decent job market. Then again, my friends in DC and NYC aren’t exactly living the high life under the Bush/Republican Recession.
But again, thanks for reading my blog. I’m thinking I might put some advertising on it eventually, and having loyal readers like you makes me think it might be worth doing.
“Now you go on a blog and laugh at people over here working and contributing and donating to causes here that help Americans and this country, which is sorely in need of all it’s citizens doing at the moment.”
Um, no. If anything I’ve been pretty consistent in claiming that Bush II was a disaster for America, and that I sympathize with anyone who’s lost a job or a home or a combination of both due to Republican mismanagement of the economy. Republicans? Yeah, I make fun of them. A lot. 70% of America agrees with me these days, so it’s not all that hard.
FWIW, moving abroad to live and work has been a net good for me, but it wasn’t exactly easy. Still isn’t sometimes. But again, I’ll keep you posted, k? Thanks for your concern.
“Sorry I don’t ascribe to yours and the Dixie Chicks’ style of asserting your patriotism.”
Wut?
I’m helping out by bettering myself professionally (getting new feathers for my teaching hat, learning a new language) and not being a drain on the Fed like, say, Wall Street or Jay and his socialized health-care.
But really, I’m blushing with all this attention from you Dennis. Let’s get back to the subject at hand, however — Michael Steele has no balls and Rush Limbaugh runs the Republican Party these days.
Stings, no?
I have looked at your blog, Jaim. It contradicts much of what you just said. Anything having to do with politics is almost all Republican bashing. Whatever your problems are, or your friends, or Americans in general, is all blaming Republicans. Whatever the issue is, there is always someone on the liberal side blaming Republicans, and you make sure to post that viewpoint. And you post here to do little else than that, too. But at least you aren’t hung up on the Southern Strategy like Strowbridge.
Seriously, good luck with everything and may you prosper. But my guess is a little growing up on your part will have to preclude any further prosperity.
————-
Michael Steele has no balls and Rush Limbaugh runs the Republican Party these days.
Stings, no?– Jaims
No, sorry, it doesn’t sting. Michael Steel has ten time the amount of balls you ever will, only partially for some of the reasons I’ve just mentioned. And neither one of those two ‘runs the Republican party’. This is a one-day story hyped by liberal blogs to divert attention away from the stock market’s rejection of the Porkulus.
“I have looked at your blog, Jaim. It contradicts much of what you just said.”
Again, thanks for the traffic. Please keep it up. Although I’m curious as to how I’m contradicting myself.
“And neither one of those two ‘runs the Republican party’.”
What part of “Head of the Republican National Committee” don’t you understand, brainiac?
No wonder the American economy tanked with guys like you working in the financial industry.
What part of “Head of the Republican National Committee” don’t you understand, brainiac?
Head of the RNC and running the Republican party are not the same thing, Jaim. My statement stands. Don’t put your interest in politics on your resume when you apply back here in the States, or if you do, you might want to take down your blog. That is, when things get good enough for you to brave returning here. Even liberals in education looking at hiring you might be frightened away by the things you might say to young students.
“My statement stands.”
It literally does not, douchenozzle.
“Sorry I don’t ascribe to yours and the Dixie Chicks’ style of asserting your patriotism.”–Me
Wut?–You
Going to another country and suddenly becoming brave about bashing the United States and blaming Republicans for it, then telling us how much everyone where you live agrees with you. Why don’t you come back here now and be a part of the solution instead of making a little more money there in the short run and writing back here on liberal blogs how much you hate the party out of power?
See, now I’m hurt. Because I know you’re a big fan of my blog and my writing, but you weren’t reading very carefully. I’ve only been abroad for a little over six months. I was blogging about Republican incompetence for longer than that.
If you want to keep obssessing about me, I’m happy to answer your fanboi-like questions. I was blogging before I moved abroad. I didn’t have to move away to realize the Repbublican party did tons of damage to my country. I’ve known it for years, as have most Americans. I didn’t leave the States to make a statement, I did it to make a decent living and experience a new part of the world.
Your Dixie Chicks thing is predictably weird — they criticized Bush, they got criticized themselves, but as Americans woke up and realized how awful Republican rule had been, they were vindicated. And now they make a hell of a lot more money than you ever will.
So yes, let’s avoid talking about the fact that Rahm Emmanuel has played the Republican party like a goddamn fiddle by making Rush “Boner Pills” Limbaugh the face of the Republican party. (Remember Obama’s little quip about how Republican congressmen can’t “listen to Rush” and get things done? Do you think that was a random comment? No? Then you’re dumber than you sound, and that’s saying a hell of a lot.)
You were beat in 2006. You were beat in 2008. You are being beaten right now by a president and his people who are ten times smarter than you could ever hope to be. If you don’t believe me, read David freakin’ Frum’s latest column. A die-hard Bush loyalist, he pretty much agrees with me. Obama and his team have forced Republicans into a corner where they either have to embrace Rush or disown him and lose the support of the ditto-heads. Fancy that.
But please, tell us about how awesome it is to have Michael Steele as head of the RNC, and how Rush “Oxycontin” Limbaugh is a net asset to your party these days now that he’s been made into the poster-boy of a failed Republican party.
Here’s the Frum link:

Dennis,
What Rush said, and that is all I can judge by, is that he wants Obama to fail. I can not see into his heart. I’m surprised you can.
As to what I want, what Dems want, That has been disputed from their own mouths and (Here) from my own hand.
(This is a typical con tactic and I would hope you were a better person that that.) And I would like it if you did not do that to me. I speak for myself, if you want clarification on where I stand ask me, as long as you aren’t playing silly con games I will probably answer.
As to my help with OpenOffice no problem I use it myself and computers are a hobby of mine so need any more help just ask. Just be careful of how you save documents the program automatically saves things in a way that only OpenOffice will open.
Peace Be With you.
Republicans, let’s be honest. If you don’t shed this Rushtumor, you are fucked. It might be too late; he might already be in your bones. But you could at least try.
Rush Limbaush, ruler of the current Republican party, is a racist asshole. Who’da thunk it?
Republicans, let’s be honest. If you don’t shed this Rushtumor, you are fucked. It might be too late; he might already be in your bones. But you could at least try. –Parthy
I think most of us enjoy watching how much he gets under libs’ skin, Parthy. But thanks for your advice. Most of us have bigger fish to fry right now, too. I would think Rahm Emmanuel does as well, but apparently not.
“…under libs’ skin…”
BRUAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You go girl!
Oliver: I’m late to this party, but right on! as we used to say…
I would think Rahm Emmanuel does as well, but apparently not.
Ah come on, amigo, you’ve got to appreciate Rahm’s strategery here. How much do the Democrats have to gain by tying a Rush anchor around the Republicans’ neck? Assuming they’re successful, public opinion will not be kind.
We knew Rahm was the striker the second the President picked him, and you can’t ask him to be the goalie.
I think most of us enjoy watching how much he gets under libs’ skin, Parthy.
Well then, go ahead and enjoy that.
When you people are ready to participate in actually, you know, the survival of the American way of life just let us know.
Rush can’t help you with that.
…actually participate in…
Bah!
QIB-
I’ve said that a few times upthread. It just seems weird that Obama and Gibbs and Emmanuel feel the need to be talking about Rush Limbaugh when the f’ing economic system as we know it is crumbling before our very eyes. No one here seems the least bit worried about it, either. Laughing about Rush Limbaugh is way more important than anything else going on if you’d purview a few liberal blogs the last few days.
So when you say: “When you people are ready to participate in actually, you know, the survival of the American way of life just let us know.”, I repsectfully have to ask you just WTF you are talking about? We’re trying to preserve the American way of life. Obama seems hellbent on making our net worth crumble to the ground, then he wants to tax the shit out of us. Like he thinks he has to beat us into submission. Tear it all down then start all over. If all he wanted to do was be Robin Hood, I’d say fine, do it and get it over with and let’s get going again. That doesn’t seem to be what he’s doing though. It’s much worse.
So yeah, tell me about participating as you guys sing merrily along….’We pwned Rush Limbaugh. Bwa ha ha ha!’
And the 5 or 6 people of color Steele may have actually semi-persuaded to look at the GOP as an option just went with the wind.
Oh. My. God.
The thing that gets me about this (and other) conversations with cons is the huge split between what people are saying ans what cons are hearing.
I really don’t think anyone is saying “ALL RIGHT! we “Powned” the Mighty RUSH!”
What I hear and what I’m saying is that it is sad that a drug addict, racist, lying, bag of shit, ENTERTAINER is LEADING the GOP.
If we really want to get to solving the problems that we as a nation have we really need to either get another “Loyal opposition”, one with some sense, common or otherwise. Or they need to take a look at themselves and sort themselves out.
How the hell cons get from that to “You guys sure are silly. Celebrating the power of Rush and all.”
Either your off balanced, mentally or your making shit up just to insult folks (Typical con game), and be assholes. Now unless I’m missing some … subtlety in this conversation your turning this into just another childish pissing contest.
It just seems weird that Obama and Gibbs and Emmanuel feel the need to be talking about Rush Limbaugh when the f’ing economic system as we know it is crumbling before our very eyes.
It’s called multi-tasking. Some folks are able to talk about more than two issues at once.
We’re trying to preserve the American way of life. Obama seems hellbent on making our net worth crumble to the ground, then he wants to tax the shit out of us.
Which American Way of Life is that? The Rich get richer while the Poor get poorer? And what do you mean “tax the shit out of us”? do you make more than $250K AGI? No? Then what’s your problem?
We’re trying to preserve the American way of life. Obama seems hellbent on making our net worth crumble to the ground,
No, you’re confusing him with congressional Republicans.
The economy is teetering on the brink of a deflationary spiral that could take a decade to break. The congressional GOP thinks its more important to stay on the good side of Rush than it is to do anything about the economy.
Every so often, a lone Republican works up the courage to call Limbaugh out for what he is–a huckster, a sensation, a radio talker who makes a living being outrageous.
How is that working out for your side? Yeah, I know, you “enjoy watching how much he gets under libs’ skin.”
As I said before, if you people ever decide to run an actual political party, we’ll be here.
So yeah, tell me about participating as you guys sing merrily along….’We pwned Rush Limbaugh. Bwa ha ha ha!’
OK. Participating:
We just elected a president and a majority in both houses of Congress. You’re “enjoying how much [Rush] gets under libs’ skin.”
The economy is teetering on the brink of a deflationary spiral that could take a decade to break.
And as we all know, the only way to break a deflationary spiral is to fire up the printing presses and increase the money supply via unprecedented government spending!
You know, maybe there are actual Republicans that disagree with Obama’s economic policies (instead of the pretend Republican strawmen living in your head who “want to do nothing” about the economy.) Taxing people that create jobs? Taxing charitable gifts? MAYBE not the best ideas…
I think most of us enjoy watching how much he gets under libs’ skin, Parthy.
Indeed, as Atrios and others have pointed out numerous times, annoying liberals is wingnuts’ primary MO. To Dennis and his ilk, it’s OK that Rush Limbaugh is a racist asshole because he annoys liberals. We Reality Based, on the other hand, do not care for Mr. Limbaugh because he is, among other odious things, a racist asshole. Fortunately, being a racist asshole out in public is becoming less and less acceptable in the United States. That’s a good thing. (That it also annoys wingnuts is irrelevant to us Reality Based.)
I have no idea why you guys argue with Rush’s butt-buddy Limbaugh. Don’t you realize that travelling troll isn’t ere to make sense?
He’s here to stroke himself so stop giving him the KY!
then he wants to tax the shit out of us.
modest tax increases still MUCH more conservative than most (if not all) of the rest of the developed world = taxing the shit out of us?
OOPS! I mean’t Rush’s butt-buddy DENNIS (you see, I can’t even tell them apart now).
BTW…that goes for his clones here too.
fire up the printing presses and increase the money supply
So is this just another saltmarsh mouse con trope, or is this actually happening? As I understand it, we’re selling bonds to foreigners to get the cash, not printing a pile of worthless fiat money. The money supply contracts and expands even in normal times; that’s not really news.
Somebody want to throw up a link to some evidence of ‘firing up the printing presses?’
You know what, Farris, you’re absolutely, right. If they had instead used MY 3 point stimulus plan, we could get the money while spending almost none ourselves.
1. Legalize gay marriage. Wedding ceremonies are very expensive, and gays on average have more money than heterosexuals. This means we can fuel millions of dollars to the wedding industry by letting gays married.
2. Legalize pot. By legalizing it, not only do we free up law enforcement to enforce laws that matter, we also can tax the pot, and tax the income of those that sell it. Upper-middle class college students with more money than they know what to do with? We can use this.
3. Most controversial one, but the one that will generate the most money. We give everyone that still supports Bush (25% of 300 mil = 75 mil), and give them a free “cruise”. When the boats get to international waters, we sell them as slave labor to various 3rd world countries. At 1k a pop, that’s $75 billion right there.
I’m serious about the first 2, though. They would both stimulate the economy at no cost to the government or taxpayers what-so-ever.
You know, maybe there are actual Republicans that disagree with Obama’s economic policies (instead of the pretend Republican strawmen living in your head who “want to do nothing” about the economy.)
Well, the “strawmen” seem to be lumbering around in Congress. Could be my imagination, but they’re in my teevee.
Occasionally a liberal asks a good question–
–Peter Daou, blogging today in The Zsa Zsa Post
Why on Earth Are Democrats Legitimizing and Empowering Rush Limbaugh?
It’s easy to feel like the old era is gone, the old demons slain, that we WON, that nobody’s afraid of the once-vaunted Republican attack machine. But Barack Obama’s unquestioned discipline, steadfastness and intelligence notwithstanding, he wouldn’t be president without a tsunami of Hillary-hatred expertly surfed by his campaign, mishandled by hers, a tsunami generated over the years precisely by people like Rush Limbaugh.”
He’s agreeing, it is easy for you guys to feel unafraid, whe in reality you still are. You wouldn’t talk about him so otherwise. And Obama owes his presidency to Limbaugh. This guy is right; without him, Hillary would’ve won going away. Not sure that is a good thing looking back. Hillary would not have destroyed the stock market like Obama is doing.
Dennis, please tell me you don’t believe that nonsense about Operation Chaos. Please. Only an idiot would do that. I like Peter, but I happen to disagree with him on this one (as I did when he worked for Sen. Clinton).
@Parthy
I suppose one could make Farris’ point that government spending (especially spending borrowed money) = firing up the printing presses. If the government borrows money from China and pumps it into the U.S. economy, seems to me that increases the money supply.
Of course, to be consistent, one would have to say the same about consumer credit spending.
Hillary would not have destroyed the stock market like Obama is doing.
Hey racist asshole endorser Dennis, you wanna wager whether or not the stock market ends up down more at the end of the Obama Era than it did over the course of George Bush, Jr.’s reign?
Also, what would Hillary have done so differently with respect to affecting the stock market, a month and a half into her theoretical presidency?
In any event, keep on keepin’ on defending racist asshole Rush Limbaugh. It suits you.
Still in denial about the whole point of this thread, Dennis?
Rush has the Republican leadership on a leash. They cross him at their peril. Mr. Steele is only the latest to demonstrate this fact.
Mr. Daou is asking the wrong question. The right question is: Why are Republican leaders so afraid of this antisocial crackpot?
And as we all know, the only way to break a deflationary spiral is to fire up the printing presses and increase the money supply via unprecedented government spending!
Well, maybe not the only way. The Fed could reduce interest rates into negative territory I suppose.
Dennis,
Once again can you NOT tell the difference between disgust and fear? Or in all honesty are you calling me a liar when I say I am not afraid of Rush I hate him? (In that case I complement you on your ability to know more about me than I know of myself.)
I can tell your not THAT “stoopid” you seem to be able to use a keyboard.
Or is it just that you are using the typical con tacit of strawmanning? I would think you a better person than that.
Peace Be With you
Hey racist asshole endorser Dennis… Aqualung ed
Sorry, Jethro, doesn’t faze me one bit. You guys have at different times called the current Vice President a racist asshole and the current Secretary of State the same thing, and you have no problem with either one of them nor their important positions. So it must just be a common name you throw around as a term of endearment when you’re not in an especially good mood. That or you just call everybody that.
I wonder if anyone threatened Rush with being fired if he did not be nice to Steel?

You wouldn’t talk about him so otherwise.
So one is afraid of anything they talk about? So if you talk about liberals in any context what-so-ever, you’re afraid of them? Makes sense to me.
Dennis, please tell me you don’t believe that nonsense about Operation Chaos. Please. Only an idiot would do that. –OW
No, I don’t think what Rush did in the Dem. primary helped or hurt either one materially, but I think Daou has a point in this article that Limbaugh’s overall effect on the Clinton’s over a period of many years may very well have had enough of a negative impact that it may have been the difference between her winning and losing.
Hillary would not have destroyed the stock market like Obama is doing.
You have absolutely nothing to base this on.
Hillary would not have destroyed the stock market like Obama is doing.
Here’s Dennis from the alternate universe where Hillary won the primary:
Obama would not have destroyed the stock market like Hillary is doing.
Dennis: “And Obama owes his presidency to Limbaugh. This guy is right; without him, Hillary would’ve won going away.”
You are wrong here.
“Not sure that is a good thing looking back. Hillary would not have destroyed the stock market like Obama is doing.”
Obama is not destroying the stock market. It was in free-fall before he took over. It was in free-fall, because it was overvalued.
