The reason that the republican representatives are so bad. Limited choice. They are basically the puppets of mega rich billionaires paid to say what ever they are told to say. The have to be sufficiently corrupt to sell their integrity, name and public image, plus and most importantly, they have to have a sufficiently criminal past that their controllers can blackmail them to ensure their obedience. Certainly not all of them but you should easily be able to pick out the most obvious ones by the lies that not only tell but repeat even when the truth is pointed out to them. The most amazing part the mega rich use these corrupt sock puppets so they can ruthlessly exploit the poor deceived fools that vote them. As for paid forum trolls from PR agencies, the most pathetic scum on the face of the planet who actually take pride in their lies, sharpen up your skills, your brand of B$ is getting way to obvious and boring.

J.G.Thayer: "Southern Strategy, the pipeline was completely stalled. Goveror Murkowski had put together a deal with the big oil companies that was going nowhere. They said they wanted massive subsidies to build the pipeline."

TransCanada offered to do it all on their own. Now they could get as much as $500 million in subsidies.

So you are fucking wrong on this point.

"Then, as soon as Palin got the deal with TransCanada, they suddenly found a way to do it on their own, without subsidies — amazing what a little competition and the free market will do."

Five companies put up bids, four were rejected on technicalities. TransCanada was the only bid that was considered, and TransCanada was the only company that had business and political ties to Sarah Palin.

So you are fucking wrong on this point.

"An imperfect deal is still better than no deal — and an imperfect deal that prompts competition is even better."

There is no fucking deal! There is no fucking deal, and now the oil companies have better leverage in their part of the negotiations.

So you are fucking wrong on this point.

That's strike three for you.

Care to try again?

It's interesting how parents no longer dream of having a child become president. Because ya know, it's really no big deal. Not like making up stories about flood relief or spending tax-payers' money on junkets. That's the American dream right there.

No, Duros, "what Ayers did when Obama was 8" is not the point. What Ayers is still proud about, what he has done since then, is the important part. He says he didn't do enough -- like bombing judge's homes in the middle of the night -- back then.

Oh, and Oliver, pretty much everyone has walked back from this story. Playboy's buried the original article. You wanna retract it any time soon?

“winning elections” doesn’t count as an actual accomplishment. They are not an end, but a means to an end — what did he do with those electoral wins?

The same with colleges — in Obama and Palin’s cases, that was over half their lives ago.

Ah ha.
So you're saying that recent events or accomplishments are not relevant. And past events or accomplishments are not relevant.

But whatever William Ayres did when Obama was 8 years old somehow is.

"I pushed through a natural-gas pipeline that had been bottled up for decades..."

Yeah, I'm sure that's what she would say, but the facts dont' agree with her. Construction hadn't started at the time of your hypothetical conversation. In fact, I don't know if it has started by now. Last I heard, there was still a lot of negotiations left to happen.

And here's a little tidbit for you...

"Under a different set of rules four years earlier, TransCanada had offered to build the pipeline without a state subsidy; under Palin, the company could receive a maximum $500 million."

Here's a snippet of a hypothetical debate from last year:

"For all three of you: cite one thing you've done in your public career that has helped people. You first, Governor Palin."

"I pushed through a natural-gas pipeline that had been bottled up for decades -- when I started, the plan was for the state to pay the operators to handle it. Now they're paying the state for the right to operate it. This not only created many good jobs, but improved the state's economy and helped bring more energy to the continental United States."

"Thank you, Governor Palin. You, Governor Jindal?"

"I took over my state's Department of Health and Hospitals while it was running a huge deficit. I turned that around in a surplus, making sure the people of Louisiana could continue to receive quality health care for years to come."

"Thank you, Governor Jindal. And you, Senator Obama?"

"I got elected to the Illinois State Senate and the United States Senate."

"Um... do you have anything else to add, Senator?"

"I also served on a board to improve Chicago's schools and spent a bunch of money, but please don't ask me who else was on the board, or what we actually achieved."

"OK, Senator..."

"Oh, and I also spent a lot of time on a board that is working to ban handguns entirely. We also spent a lot of money and bought some really good articles about how gun control isn't really unconstitutional, but we didn't get a single law changed."

"Thank you, Senator."

Dennis: "Jesus Christ, Southern Strategy, you respond to every one of them."

Me: "No I don’t."

Jay Tea says: "BRILLIANT homage to Monty Python’s Argument Clinic, Southern Strategy! I doff my hat to you!"

Good lord. Are you going to have your own 'Can't count past two' moment?

Give you a little hint. No matter how many times I respond to him, if I don't respond to all of them, then he is wrong.

That's reality. If you can't handle it, fuck off.

Jay writes “'winning elections'” doesn’t count as an actual accomplishment"

This just. Wha. /facepalm

Jay, in all sincerity -- you win the internets, buddy. Putting scare quotes around winning elections. Wow.

According to Jay, Barack Obama has never accomplished anything. Jesus H. Mother-Loving Christ, you are as dumb as a bag of hammers.

When you got that taxpayer subsidized medical treatment, it's a shame they took out your brain by accident.

I was one of them ... we used to beat them up out back and in the libraries.

"Give it up, Strowbridge. When you can’t bring up your standard 'southern strategy,' you’re even more hopeless than usual."

Want to make a bet? I'm willing to put my predictive powers against yours. Are you up for it?

Way, way too early, Oliver. I know that Obama is in Perpetual Campaign Mode, which means that you are, too, but some of us wouldn't mind letting things develop for a while before dealing with another presidential election.

Especially those of us in New Hampshire.
