The problem is (on the left) that people think that protest = end of Vietnam war when in fact it was protest + tons of bodybags + unwinnable stupid ass conflict that ended the Vietnam War. The idea that in the modern world you can do anything by just marching with a sign is the problem. Now, if you've got community organizers bringing people together working within the existing power structure, well you could do crazy stuff like electing a progressive black man with a weird sounding name the leader of the free world.

Conservatives suck at organizing rallies and protests, and they know it, so when they get get more than twenty people to show up at one place they are ecstatic.

If you are so impolite as to point out how pathetic the turnout is, they just respond that they are "just getting started", and that "conservatives have jobs they have to go to", unlike liberals who apparently have plenty of free time after cashing their government checks.

Bless their cold little hearts, no amount of FAIL will ever shake the conservative movement's belief that the rest of America is looking to them for guidance.

Protest do work if the cause is popular. In the case of the Rethugs, it aint. Like the MSM, they're seriously out of touch.

Because the majority of Americans see them as sore-loser, clueless morons who got us into this mess. Let them protest.

They seemed to have an effect on the Vietnam event while I was in the Army.

You may be right. What I should have said was "they seem to have never accomplished anything." I've read quite a bit of modern revisionism suggesting that the protests were a minor factor. When the political scientist (whose name I've forgotten; Gitlin might have been involved) controlled the statistics for the amount of war violence shown on television, suddenly politicians came out against it. When they controlled for protest activity, there was no correlation.

Are you suggesting Glenn "The independent totally libertarian and totally not a Republican" would be inconsistent and hypocritically favorable to Republicans?

Scandalous!

If you're kryptonite to stupid, Ollie, then the MSM is the lead that protects them from the kryptonite.

Remember how wingers were paying to put up billboards of Bush W. reading "Our Leader" or "Our President" or whatever?

Yeah. IOKIYAR.

IMO, dissent is patriotic. Please, throw all the tea parties you want. But at least have a little shame and realize the your howling levels of hypocrisy.

Republicans aren't so good at that.

So, Instapundit linking to someone who thinks that the early anti-war protests were too focused on the protesters personal feelings, and another link where someone points out the factual connection between the early anti-war protests and a communist group means that conservatives think that protests are for idiots?

Well, at least they were conscientious enough to obtain permits from the government to start a revolution against the government. What a joke.
