Young American Douchebags

Read this article for a laugh at young conservatives lamenting the loss of the conservative gravy train and the fact that a loyalty oath to George W. Bush is no longer the sole qualifier to being taken seriously in our national discourse.

Half of these kids will be in Congress in one way or another, and half of them will eventually get caught in some scandal. We can’t assume that every young person knows what going on.

Case-in-point: I was just listening to 13-year-old conservative Jonathan Krohn on the Thom Hartman Program (he’s at CPAC) and he’s literally the posterchild for the neocon mentality: hates history, blames liberals for everything bad, scared of brown people, and almost had a temper-tantrum on live radio.

  2. Jack J. says:

Ah, to be 13 ago! Life was so simple and everyone told me how to think so that I didn’t have to.

Hopefully he’ll grow out of his assholeness, if not, he’s in for a long, bitter life.

young repubs= David Spade’s character in PCU

  4. Repack Rider says:

O-Dub, thanks for the link! It made my day to see these self-important whiners who have never had to COMPETE with anyone for anything moan about their own newly discovered incompetence, and their desire for small government, as long as they got to be part of it.

It’s too bad that even the recently relaxed standards for enlistment would still preclude these morons, because we’re running short on cannon fodder.

Do yourself a favor and read the comments, which are unfortunately sorted from newest to oldest, so you have to start at the bottom of the last page. The few conservative defenders are reduced to bumper sticker level arguments, straw men and name calling.

In other words, the comments at the WaPo are a lot like the comments here. Where are the literate conservative bloggers, if they don’t even show up at the WaPo?

  5. [...] (via Oliver Willis who also describes a Twitter exchange with Joe Scarborough) really cracks me [...]

  6. Jaim says:

I love how young cons are described as proud outsiders, and yet they don’t even have the guts to mention which wingnut welfare think-tank they work for.

Stay proud and classy, young Republicans. Getting real jobs outside the umbrella of Heritage/AEI/Cato won’t hurt you, believe me. It’ll probably turn you into Dems in all honesty.

  7. Grumpymann says:

    RightWingWelfare is dead!
    Long live McDonald’s!
