Is that Susie Derkins’ face or is there a possum stuffed in her collar?

Is that an actual line from a strip? If it isn't, it could have been.

Actually, I liked this for a few reasons.

Calvin is still full of mischief. Look at his face.

Susie is carrying Hobbes. Whatever the story with an adult or near-adult Calvin keeping Hobbes around, she accepts it.

Personally, I think it is a portrait of two people who have grown up together, and don't forget who they were as children. If Calvin has stayed in touch with his vivid imagination, then no, he does not want to leave Hobbes behind.

It is like the Velvetine Rabbit with a happy ending. Whatever happens, Calvin and Hobbes stay a team. And Susie is part of that. Besides, if you will recall, Hobbes LIKED Susie.

"By that logic, deep down Schroeder was just aching to screw Lucy, Linus was playing hard-to-get with Sally and the Little Redhead Girl actually wanted to give Charlie Brown a hummer."

Suzie wasn't hitting on Calvin. They 'hated' each other. The two Peanuts references were definitely just one-sided love affairs.

Are you that ignorant as to how young boys and girls interact?

Real young boys and girls don't "interact" the same way kids in the comics do. But you already knew that, right?

I have to admit, I liked the picture. We have most of
the Calvin and Hobbes collections here at the house - I've
joked to my husband that, before becoming a parent myself, I'd assumed that the strip was fictional. It's a documentary.

As for Duros and Parthenon - no, I'm not even going to look. Not gonna do it.

Although it would be weird to see a live Hobbes with only one eye.

There's a Stephen King story in there somewhere.

That picture is all sorts of creepy.
It's even creepier than you think. Hobbes appears as a stuffed toy when Calvin is w/ other people, that doesn't mean he's not a live tiger though. As far as we know Hobbes is still very much alive and on top of Susie on top of Calvin.

That picture is all sorts of creepy.

Older teen who still carries a stuffed toy. The way he's holding her leg (I thought Calvin and Susie hated each other?). And the way she's smiling and he's blushing: where the hell are they going?

It's like a Naruto artist was thinking, "What is Calvin and Hobbes was more like Archie?"

Damn... Quaker beat me to it.

Oliver, if you aren't reading Frazz, you really, really ought to. The grownup "Calvin" (going by the name "Frazz") even has a young version of himself to deal with -- a little black kid named Caulfield. Suzy is also there, but now she's "Miss Plainwell."
