Good News/Entertainment Sources?

For the second time in a month I’m zeroing out my Google Reader subscriptions in the hope of adding some quality to my daily reads (and to get of that infernal 1000+ unread that makes it seem as if I’m not reading enough fast enough) and I’m looking for suggestions. Post anything you think is worth a good read in the comments – doesn’t have to be msm or blog. If you post more than one thing leave off the http:// so it doesn’t get caught in moderation hell. Feel free to plug your own stuff too.

(And I don’t care if its on the left or right. To be frank I read more conservative stuff than liberal stuff on a daily basis. Which is why I’m able to find crap to write about on such a regular basis.)

Both comments and pings are currently closed.

    CHUD.com

It’s a great movie/comics/game website, with several good writers and a great sense of humor.

    http://nextround.net

News/comedy aggregate. Incredibly sophomoric, always NSFW or children, but endlessly hilarious.

Second Jacob Singer’s suggestion on CHUD.com. They’ve got some great forums for movie/general discussions.

My suggestion is any of Warren Ellis’ websites. The crazy curmudgeonly “old” man links to and posts a whole host of alt culture/music/generally off-the-beaten-path things.

  4. Ha, I just added nextround before I saw your message.

    http://globalvoicesonline.org

It’s a collection of bloggers from all over the world. And I mean everywhere from Angola to Azerbaijan. It’s divided by region, country and topic.

most of the stuff is old, but he makes me laugh. The “things I learnt from stock photos” a particularly good example of his work.

I’ve yet to mention that site to a single person that didn’t love it. Those guys are gonna be big, I think. Incidentally, the photo bombers was also my first exposure.

How a bout Icarus the Penguin?
    He recently became a Pastafarian.
He doesn’t post very often, so there is not a great deal to keep up on, but he is an engaging little Antarctican.
