<i>In other words: once we get these most important bills passed and signed, we’ll get around to implementing it for such crucial matters as National Left-Handed Jockeys Day and other laws of critical import.</i>

No, Jay Tea. In other words, Obama promised to post bills for public viewing and, since that's never been done before, there are some logistics that need to be worked but they're aiming to get the system up and running asap. In the meantime, they've posted the actual text of every bill that Obama has signed so far, short the hundreds of pages in the stimulus package, which could easily be defined as emergency legislation.

You really have to be a complete tool to read that post, note that Obma isn't even a month into his administration and then start screaming "HE BROKE HIS PROMISE!!LIAR!!!"

The stupidest fucking thing here, however, is that above you wrote "WE CHECKED!" when, in fact, you hadn't checked shit. Certainly not the first place you should have checked which was the White House webpage.

Seriously, Jay Tea. Own up. What exactly did you check, before you posted that comment? Where do you go to conclude that Obama was not and had no plans to fulfill this campaign pledge?

From fafaroo's link: <i>Since a few questions have come in, we want to update you on the President's campaign commitment to introducing more sunlight into the lawmaking process by posting non-emergency legislation online for five days before signing it. This policy will be implemented in full soon; currently we are working through implementation procedures and some initial issues with the congressional calendar.</i>

<i>Now kindly show how each of those were posted for public review before he signed, were each an “emergency” bill that the delay of a few dyas would have caused grave harm, or admit that Obama hasn’t kept his campaign promise.</i>

Fafaroo, I don't need a complete list, just a single example. But how about four: the stimulus bill (again, it was such an emergency that he let it sit for four days until the holiday weekend was over so he could have the proper <strike>drama</strike> attention for it; the S-CHIP expansion bill, the digital TV conversion delay, and the Ledbetter bill.

Now kindly show how each of those were posted for public review before he signed, were each an "emergency" bill that the delay of a few dyas would have caused grave harm, or admit that Obama hasn't kept his campaign promise.

Of course, feel free to make the argument that nearly every bill Obama signs is an "emergency." That makes the entire promise utterly empty and pointless.

As predicted.

Geez, Jaim, how long are you going to keep rewriting what other say to make your point?

Obama's promise was to post all non-emergency bills on the internet for four days before signing them.

The "stimulus" bill was such an emergency that he took four days to sign it -- but it wasn't posted for most of that time.

Nobody made Obama make that promise. He chose to, and nobody forced him to break it.

This is the best you've got? Obama isn't posting bills early enough on the internet?

Your standards for presidential excellence are so high, Jay. What would your opinion be of him if he started and failed to win two different wars? Or if at the end of his eight years in office the unemployment rate was at an all-time high?

I'll bet you'd be miffed, I bet you would! Let's pray to Allah this doesn't happen!

Yay, fafaroo! You proved that Obama didn't break his promise at EVERY opportunity! Good for you!

Not so good for you, though: Obama didn't promise to post at least one bill, but all bills.

E for effort.

Jay Tea didn't even show what he meant by his oil drilling statement (because his computer doesn't have a CTRL key) and it's our job to read his mind and tell him how he's wrong. If it's oil drilling in Utah, in a National Park that's keeping us away from energy independence (it's not) then the United States must have very little need for oil Jay Tea. I grew up in Utah and the national parks that Bush pushed through drilling in shouldn't be destroyed for a minimal amount of oil.

Will Jay Tea:

1) Admit he was wrong if the stimulus package causes economic recovery?

2) Provide evidence for assertions that he makes?

3) Recognise that if you vote Republican every year and fall hook, line and sinker for a the party's propaganda that you're a Republican?

Stay tuned to another exciting comment thread!

J.G.Thayer: "When dealing with coding, that’s a title I wear with pride. I’m pretty sure he did mention how to get links to show, but it went right past me."

Coding? CODING!

Cut and paste the damn link, just leave out the first part up to the www and the link will post as text. Then we can cut and paste it ourselves. I even gave a random example above, if you can't follow those simply instructions.

Coding. Good lord.

"So, with all the foofaraw about me and my various foibles, where’s someone pointing out where I got Obama’s promises (and breaking thereof) wrong?"

Already done.

"Oh, and now it turns out that Burris DID agree to raise money for Blagojevich."

We assumed that, which is why we didn't want him seated in the first place, and why he will be defeated in the primary.

You know, "enhanced interrogation techniques" could ostensibly include Debbie Boon's "You Light Up My Life" being played on a loop for a couple of days. Or reruns of The Facts of Life.

I'd talk.
And while I am no fan of extraordinary rendition, the previous tenant of the White House left some pretty nifty Presidential powers behind. If my goal as President was to kick terrorist assz, I wouldn't be quick to just toss 'em all.

Strowbridge said to me:

<i>You are a fucking idiot. </i>

When dealing with coding, that's a title I wear with pride. I'm pretty sure he did mention how to get links to show, but it went right past me.

And I can't believe I said "Texas deli." I meant a "Texas barbecue."

So, with all the foofaraw about me and my various foibles, where's someone pointing out where I got Obama's promises (and breaking thereof) wrong?

Oh, and now it turns out that Burris DID agree to raise money for Blagojevich. Ain't that special? This is, as I understand it, the FOURTH iteration of the "truth" from him about how he got Obama's old seat.

Just another Chicago Democrat...
