No, Zython, that would be describing people like Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, Steve Martin and Al Franken NOW when they try to joke about George W. Bush. They and the SNL cast and crew were far better doing comedy when they were all stoned and coked out in the show’s early years. Now when those guys guest on there, it’s just pathetic.

And that skit did them (Aykroyd and the current cast) no favors.

Translation: “Those durn young people with their iPods, and their In Sync, and their Super Mario Men, and their in vitro fertilization, and their Rock and/or Roll, and their pennicillin, and their integrated schools. Get offa mah lawn!”

You know what’s really funny? When wingnut dildos chime in on blog comments with bon mots like “…they agreed with some of the tenets of the Laffer Curve…” That’s (still) Funny on oh so many different levels. How can I make this claim? Because I know Funny.

The surest sign it was funny. Dennis didn’t think so.

Heresy. His best moment in modern times was his Bob Dole point/counterpoint skit.

This skit wasn’t “funny, ha ha” as much as its entertainment value comes from watching a trainwreck unfold. It’s a different kind of humor. Not my favorite, but it works under the circusmtances.

And it’s a crying shame to see one of SNL’s best ever in Dan Aykroyd stumbling through his lines like he did; his heart just not into it.

I watched this last night and at first thought it would be all over the lefty blogs, then thought when it was over that is was so weak that even they would pass on it.

FAIL.
