  1. jr says:

    Arthur Laffer lied, surpluses died

  2. Jaim says:

Eight years of tax cuts for the wealthy and hyper-deregulation ruined the American economy. Now adults have to fix it.

  3. steno says:

Tell me again how owning the majority of both houses and the presidency is a path to getting nothing done?

The spineless Harry Reid Democrats know this bill is a trillion dollar, 1400 page turd, and even they won’t pass it without having 2 Republicans to blame it on when it inevitably fails.

    That’s leadership, right there.

  4. Quaker in a Basement says:

even they won’t pass it without having 2 Republicans to blame it on when it inevitably fails.

Holy mother of Vince Lombardi, that’s dumb. Cloture. Look it up.

  5. Parthenon says:

It seems to me that we’re living the objective, verifiable evidence that Republican economic policy has failed, at least for the moment, much as it did in the 20s. Those who would point to the economic growth of the early Bush years seem simply to be saying ‘but man, that bubble sure was awesome, wasn’t it!’

    But then, I’m no economist.

  6. coffee says:

obama is a stud; i love the fact that he has the ability to think and talk

  7. C.S.Strowbridge says:

I can’t believe the GOP think they have the answers, and I can’t believe the MSM are taking them serious.

And I can’t fucking believe the Democrats are listening to the Republicans at all.

Hoping someone in Washington will notice the election is over, and the Democrats won, and they won big. When was the last time the GOP had majorities this size in Congress?

  8. SaveFarris says:

    “the buck stops over there”

  9. mambochicken23 says:

Farris, jr already has the market covered for the one-liners here. Main difference is that his are actually witty.

  10. C.S.Strowbridge says:

SaveFarris says: “‘the buck stops over there’”

Are you implying Obama caused this mess?

  11. PD100 says:

    “the buck stops over there”

As opposed to the last eight years, where it was “Who wants this buck?”

  12. william says:

“President Obama: I Found This Deficit When I Showed Up”, So I will compound the problem with a huge deficit increase.

Obama is a very dim bulb indeed.

  13. C.S.Strowbridge says:

william says: “‘President Obama: I Found This Deficit When I Showed Up’, So I will compound the problem with a huge deficit increase.
Obama is a very dim bulb indeed.”

So what’s your solution? Cut spending and raise taxes?

No matter what you do to fix this problem, the deficit will increase. That’s just the nature of the beast.

  14. Parthenon says:

And I can’t fucking believe the Democrats are listening to the Republicans at all.

CSS, you ever see that movie ‘Recount?’ Where Tom Wilkinson’s James Baker III pulled out every trick he knew while John Hurt’s Warren Christopher lectured his team about the spirit of negotiation?

    Wise film, I think.

  15. mambochicken23 says:

“Obama is a very dim bulb indeed.”

william, fuck off. I’m sick of unenlightened half-wits saying profoundly stupid shit like this. Obama is likely brighter and more educated than you, your children, or your children’s children will ever be. Quit being a pissy little loser, accept the fact that Obama is your President for at least the next four years, and that maybe, just maybe, he knows a bit more than you do, you idiot. Wait until he screws up half as bad as Bush did before you start throwing rocks in his direction. Christ.

  16. Duros62 says:

    “the buck stops over there”

Bush took that sign back to Texas with him.

  17. mambochicken23=reject says:

mambochicken23, how can you argue about William’s comment??? It was SO true. He’s going to make the deficit even larger than we could imagine, and everyone one your side of the camp is right behind him. Does he honestly think that making the deficit bigger and printing a bunch of money will help?

It won’t. It will lead to MASSIVE inflation down the road. That’s a fact, and it’s happened before.

I agree something must be done. If Nancy Pelosi is right about 500,000,000 jobs being lost every month, then we only have a few days left! hehehe…

The bottom line is there is a bunch of pork, bullshit in the bill that is meant to fund every little pet project that liberals have ever pimped the last 15 years. If the dems want it so bad, let them pass it and when it fails, it’ll be on them.

And what’s with all the liberal fear mongering over the economy?? I thought Obama said we were going to chose hope over fear?? Last time I heard, he said if we don’t act soon, the economy will be “permenantly crippled”. LOL! Appearently if we don’t pass this awesome piece of legislation, crafted by the most brilliant minds, our world will end as we know it.

Oh no!! Quick!! Pass the bill so we all won’t lose our jobs next week!! LOL. What a joke.

What he really meant to say is “please pass this bill so I don’t look like a lame duck in the first 3 weeks of my presidency”. Opps… too late…

  18. Zython says:

Tell me again how owning the majority of both houses and the presidency is a path to getting nothing done?

    I don’t know, ask the 109th congress.

  19. saint says:

Keep kidding yourselves it’s all Bush’s fault people. The Democrats have had the Congress majority and held the purse strings since 2006. We on the other side of the world know who is sending America down the toilet.

  20. Liberalfloridan says:

To the Republican assholes who post messages, you really should shut the fuck up.

Obama inherited 2 wars, a raging deficit (Republicans could not bend down far enough to kiss Bush’s ass to give him every penny he wanted. And of course the economic blowup of which Bush was warned. Who knew, Bush stated. He was warned, how many times by how many people that Fannie Mae was in trouble?

The mastermind behind the aborted millenium was the person who gave the US Govt. information regarding Bin Laden flying planes into buildings. The mastermind is serving a long prison sentence.

Bush ignored that warning. Bush and Cheney fabricated evidence for the Iraq war. Bush ate cake with McSame while New Orleans drowned.

Pukes, we are in this mess because your party has no clue how to govern. It is time for a real man, Obama, to clean up your crap.

  21. C.S.Strowbridge says:

saint says: “Keep kidding yourselves it’s all Bush’s fault people. The Democrats have had the Congress majority and held the purse strings since 2006. We on the other side of the world know who is sending America down the toilet.”

If you think this problem didn’t start until 2006, then you are completely stupid. I mean 100% stupid.

  22. Phuketiana says:

Oh ye of little faith. Either way the risk is that it will all fall down

  23. Front_Runner says:

I am so sick of people arguing that there are two sides to this. Yes, the way the United States has played out over the years is that we are simply a two sided system where you have to pick a side and agree with everything one side says. Obama is in office, we will take it at that just like we did over the last 8 years while Bush was in office and the 8 years before with Clinton and so forth. Now, instead of arguing like children and simply saying that one side is right and one side is wrong, let’s begin giving reasons and opinions on these plans and bills and see if we can all find a way out of this mess we are in. I could care less who put us in this crisis (which by the way the list would be long on either end of the spectrum) but I just want to find a way out. There are good things and bad things to this stimulus package and we all have our reasons for why we agree or disagree with them, so let’s make our voices heard about the specific issues we have and get this thing passed so we can take the first of many steps to getting the country we love back on its feet.

Sorry for the novel, thanks for listening.
