Green Lantern Movie Looking For A Director

green lanternHopefully they’ll have Geoff Johns as some sort of creative consultant. He’s got me reading GL for the first time.

Warner Bros. is negotiating with Martin Campbell to direct ‘Green Lantern,’ the live-action film based on the DC Comics hero.

Campbell last directed ‘Casino Royale’ and recently wrapped the Mel Gibson starrer ‘Edge of Darkness,’ based on the 1985 BBC miniseries that Campbell helmed.

The emergence of Campbell, who also helmed two ‘Zorro’ films and the 007 film ‘GoldenEye,’ puts ‘Green Lantern’ at the top of DC properties being set for movie treatment by WB.

“who also helmed two ‘Zorro’ films”

    Recipe for suck.

  2. I dunno, the first Zorro was a fun action/adventure romp. It also contained Catherine Zeta Jones.

I know you have less to grouse about but less comic talk please. This is coming from a huge Daredevil fan.

    There were 2 Zorro films?

  5. Sean D. Martin says:

The first Zorro was very good. A but long, but had the funny and the action in the right amounts at the right places. The second, yeah, tried to be too many things and ended up “eh, whatever”. GoldenEye was also one of the better Bond movies. So I don’t see the “Oh noes” for having those on his resume.

That said, GL isn’t Zorro or Bond.

Campbell also directed the recent CASINO ROYALE, which was great.

And i vote for more comic book talk, actually– I think it’s nice when people have a range of stuff on their blogs.

Agreed, but he also directed the awful Beyond Borders with Angie Jolie. This guy definitely has a mixed resume.
