Strowbridge, you cut off my punchline when you quoted me. The point of claiming Wizbang on my taxes would have been not as income, but as a deduction -- sometimes it cost me money.

I put in almost five years there before someone offered me actual money to write, and I jumped with both feet.

And today one of my articles got linked on Real Clear Politics' "Best Of The Blogs."

To be blunt, I don't bring my "A" game here. It's usually just warming up for the good stuff. Plus, it keeps me in touch with certain elements and lines of thought.

I guess, in a way, I owe a little debt of gratitude to you and your ilk.

J.G.Thayer: "Strowbridge, that’s none of your business, but I probably could have claimed Wizbang on my taxes."

Getting paid to write on the internet is not a easy thing to do. It took me two years before I saw a dime.

Sad thing is, during the peak of the Dot Com boom, the site would have been worth millions.

Repack, "same employer" is NOT the same as "same job." Three locations, numerous promotions, same employer.

As "hobby deductions."

JT,

Thanks for the unimpressive resume, which included a single datum. Eleven years at the same job! Must either be a world record or an easy job.

I have a link here, and I have actually accomplished a few things of lasting significance. One of my several passions in life is bicycling, and every book written after about 1980 about the history of that subject has to include me.

Is there anything YOU are good at?

J.G.Thayer: "Obviously, PJM should have found a way to sustain themselves. Perhaps by ripping off a Boys and Girls Club, or finding a Soros-type sugar daddy…"

What blogs are Soros giving money to? And how do I get some?

What bullshit. PJM isn't just stopping blog advertising, it's _dropping it's roster of bloggers_ you disingenuous twit. Why else would the dude from Proten Wisdom be throwing a hissy-fit like he is?

PJM is going to a pay-for-play web-TV model. Please be honest for once in your life and admit that it is therefore doomed.

Anyways, glad to hear you've been made employee of the month at Taco Bell again. Congrats!

And again, PJM bloggers were getting paid through a sugar daddy who has recently admitted that advertising on their blogs _never made any money_. He bilked investors out of over seven million in start-up cash.

Again, most succesful lib blogs are written by succesful professionals who decide they want to start blogging. Most con blogs are written by whiney little man-boys who expect a sugar-daddy to pay for them to blog out of their parents' basement.

Thoughtful of you to worry about me, Repack, but off in a few details:

My parents have been deceased for well over a decade, I'm considerably older than 41, and just passed my 11th anniversary at the day job. (Today I got calls of appreciation from my boss's boss, and his boss, for what I've done over the last month.) I am looking for an apartment, however -- you got that right. A sprinkler blew two floors above my old apartment, and I got flooded out.

But back to the story at hand... I was waiting for Oliver to correct himself, but he hasn't. PJM isn't shutting down, it's just ending its blog advertising arm. PJM itself will soldier on. Their model just wasn't sustainable -- as a lot of people pointed out at the outset. My old blog boss, Kevin Aylward, owner of Wizbang, passed at the beginning because he thought it would flop.

They should have followed the Air America model and found some charities to rip off for money, or found some conservative George Soros with more money than brains and scruples who didn't mind throwing millions of dollars around to sponsor his or her political goals.

Oh, well...

I’ve moved on.

Apparently his parents are remodeling the old rec room where he's been staying, and encouraging him, at 27, to find meaning in his life, but even more important, an apartment. And then, perhaps a job if he can figure out something that he is at least average at.

Jaim, get a clue. You won't see my name on Wizbang any more. I resigned to join the staff of a magazine's blog last November. I'm proud of what I did in almost five years of blogging at Wizbang, but I've moved on. I don't link to it any more because I'm no longer editor.

It’s not a habitual thing, but it’s statistically improbable to pass it off as a coincidence. Try a Google search of “name that party” and see countless examples — I just came up with over 57,000 hits.

Dude! Totally! That's what I'm saying! But dig this!

If you google "the earth is flat" you get 186,000 hits!!!1!!!

So, you know, that's true too!

Shorter Jay: Con blogs are so incredibly shitty that they're all going dead, even mine which I don't even bother to link to any longer.

ZOMG GAY PEOPLE! LOOK!

And Pajama Media _had_ a sugar daddy. Two of them, actually -- what's-his-name-in-the-hat and Charles from LGF.

It's truly a good time to be an American these days.

Obviously, PJM should have found a way to sustain themselves.

They are using the Washington Times business model. Lose millions a year but spout lots of conservative lies and a right wing wacko will finance you.

If it works for a "major" newspaper, what could go wrong?

Okay, their wacko financier might not have as much money as Reverend Moon, who after all has been crowned as the Second Coming of Jesus by Republican leaders.

My apologies, Strowbridge. You're quite right. I should stick to the topic.

Obviously, PJM should have found a way to sustain themselves. Perhaps by ripping off a Boys and Girls Club, or finding a Soros-type sugar daddy...

Try a Google search of “name that party” and see countless examples — I just came up with over 57,000 hits.

How many were on soon-to-be-defunct Pajamas Media sites?

Oh!...Did we move on to a different subject? Forgive me.

Funny, Zython, I thought Gerry Studds was a Democrat.

By the way, apparently you don't know about the game "Name That Party." Whenever you read a story about a disgraced politician, look for a mention of their party affiliation. When it's a Republican, that gets mentioned fairly quickly. If the mention is later in the piece or missing entirely, the odds are extremely high that it's a Democrat.

It's not a habitual thing, but it's statistically improbable to pass it off as a coincidence.

Democrat. If it was a Republican, the lover would've been 12.
