Headline: “PBS: ‘Obama Is Our First Truly American President’”
Wow, that’s crazy! PBS as an organization said that about President Obama? That’s super crazy bias–
Wait. Who actually said that?
Oh wait, it was a commentary by pundit and author John Ridley. On a local PBS affiliate.
Somehow the opinion of one commentator (not an anchor or journalist or anything) on a local PBS station offering his opinion is transmogrified by the geniuses at MRC into an official statement of support from PBS.
Oh, Ridley is also a contributor to conservative blog Big Hollywood.
So, to use the Newsbusters method we can write:
Conservative Blog Big Hollywood: ‘Obama Is Our First Truly American President’
Wow, writing right-wing b.s. is fun.
Somehow the opinion of one commentator (not an anchor or journalist or anything) on a local PBS station offering his opinion is transmogrified by the geniuses at MRC into an official statement of support from PBS.
Oh, you mean like how the writings on one conservative blog (or even by someone in the comments) is magically transformed by you into THE opinion of the Republican party or conservatives in general?
Pot, kettle and all that, Oliver.
If one echoes the other, there’s no problem, but that you would defend this brand of stupidity speaks volumes.

Oliver, kindly show how my above single sentence above in anyway defends anything or anyone.
The fact that you take my pointing out your hypocrisy and try to twist it into some kind of defense of the people that you’re railing about speaks volumes about you.
Oh, you mean like how the writings on one conservative blog (or even by someone in the comments) is magically transformed by you into THE opinion of the Republican party or conservatives in general?
O-Will came through with a specific example. Why can’t you, Dave in SoCal? Did Rush Limbaugh tell you not to or something?
Here are a three examples of Oliver tarring Conservatives or “the GOP” for the statements of (1) a pro-corporation lobbyist and (2) a whackjob talk radio host:
The Ultimate (This Week) In Conservative Straw-mannery
GOP Bigot Eruption: Conservative Talk Host “Gunny Bob” Says Obama Should Try To “Whip My White Ass”
Conservatives: Why?
You’re welcome, ed.
Of course your problem is that conservatives endorse all those things. Which is my point.
Thanks…
…O-Will.

And your right-wing pro-union counter-example would be…?
GOP Bigot Eruption: Conservative Talk Host “Gunny Bob” Says Obama Should Try To “Whip My White Ass”
Dave in SoCal let me introduce you to Lee Atwater; Lee Atwater, Dave in SoCal. What’s that, you’ve already met? Dave in SoCal, are you being coy?
Conservatives: Why?
Mm-hm. I also heard that Al Gore said he invented the Internet. Really, the nerve of those liberal liars.
Oh this is rich. Oliver is laughably hypocritical here. To Dave’s list, I’d also add this that I can find:
http://www.oliverwillis.com/2008/10/16/what-the-republican-party-thinks-about-black-people/
And another example of Oliver pushing his “individual actor only” meme:
http://www.oliverwillis.com/2008/12/12/jesse-jackson-jr-backers-raise-money-for-blago-get-senate-seat-for-jackson/
We get it though – when someone who is conservative does something bad, it represents all conservatives. When someone who is liberal does something bad it represents no-one other than themselves. Oliver’s precious “reality” bubble must not be popped!
Haplo9, this is Lee Atwater. Oh, you guys have met too. Why so coy?
