I’m thinking of an ongoing feature highlighting right-wingers trying to pass b.s. on that ends up getting pwned by liberals doing something crazy: checking.
Our first example is from Media Matters, where I work. Bernard Goldberg has a new book out complaining about the press being too soft on Obama. In the first chapter Goldberg whines about a feature on CBS telling you “5 Things You Should Know About Barack Obama”. Clear bias, right? CBS is just so in the tank for Obama they produced this fluff piece. But…
Turns out CBS put out the same sort of piece about John McCain a few days later. Bernard Goldberg put a lie out there and banked that nobody would check. But somebody did.

Old Bern needs to give up his Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction-esque obsession with Dan Rather
What’ really disturbing about this is that there are millions of people who don’t check. They believe everything they’re told.
And this gives you guys a woody? Thinking of an on-going feature?
This is the type of vocation young college graduates should aspire to over serving in the military or going into business, when you say “Yes, those conservative kids have ambitions like going to Iraq and applying the fucking Laffer Curve to screw the country up worse.”
And this gives you guys a woody?
That’s pretty rich coming from the right wing troll who just yesterday wrote, “If it wasn’t a Saturday and I didn’t have better things to do, I’m sure I wouldn’t have a problem listing several more [reasons why Think Progress is a bunch of doodyheads].” How’d that work out for you by the by? Ever find a whole lot of errors at Think Progress? They’re so easy to find, right? How about Media Matters? I bet the mess up more than Rush Limbaugh at a seder. Happy hunting!
Oh, and you never answered my question. Should Arabic translators be dismissed from the U.S. Army because they prefer the company of men to the company of women?
“Yes, those conservative kids have ambitions like going to Iraq and applying the fucking Laffer Curve to screw the country up worse.”
As I noted before:
Indeed, shame on O-Will for saying that. If he was referring to the Blackwater douchebags or the likes of unqualified Heritage Foundation legacies (e.g., Simone Ledeen), he ought to have been more specific. Those right wing shitheads are prime examples of how the Cheney-Rove Administration severely fucked up this great nation. Shame on them.
By the way, you never told us what the “tenets of the Laffer Curve” are and which of those tenets you agree with. Or disagree with for that matter. I’m eager to hear about those!
y
That’s been done before, except instead of telling the nuts, “WE CHECKED,” they’re told…
Sadly, No!
followed by a YouTube war and somebody playing Yakety Sax.
Meanwhile, Bernie Goldberg sees anti-men media biiiiiiias in a story about how male insects are weaker than female insects.
Hey, just so’s we’re all clear, lookee here from a previous thread. O-Will writes
So that’s whom O-Will was referring to. Go figure.
So that’s whom O-Will was referring to. Go figure.
After being called on it, Mister ed.
A Kinsley gaffe.
After being called on it, Mister ed.
Yeah, it’s called a clarification.
After being called on it, Mister ed. </i
Right, ’cause O-Will hates Teh Troops. Yeah, that’s the ticket! That must be it.
I heard he also dismisses many of the several tenets of the Laffer Curve!
And we’re still waiting for all those easily found Think Progress errors. No hurries though. At your convenience. Even though there are so many to pick from. Fish in a barrel and all that. Thanks in advance.
Yes, its my fault you’re dumb Dennis. You must be the sort of person who, when someone says “Hitler”, needs the entire history of WWII recited to them.
You must be the sort of person who, when someone says “Hitler”, needs the entire history of WWII recited to them.
Or, as we recently became aware, the entire history of the state of New Jersey.
And we’re still waiting for all those easily found Think Progress errors. No hurries though. At your convenience.
–Mister ed
Actually enjoying reading your fifth attempt at begging me for something you can easily find on your own. That and grinning that you’d actually believe Think Progress Which Does Neither has only made one mistake in their entire existence. My inclination is that a list of, say, ten of their more egregious fuck-ups would only prompt further arguments from you, which I believe is what you want, and further which leads me to believe you have very little else to do on a no-football winter weekend.
Some good movies out now, Mister ed. Slumdog Millionaire is excellent. Or maybe go take a yoga class and learn to breathe. Arguing with people you despise is not at all healthy. Calling people who you don’t know the first thing about names is not much better, either.
Really, Dennis. Why just yesterday you seemed so sure you could easily find a long string of errors from Think Progress and today you make up a lame excuse not to come up with any. You have a standing invitation to join my weekly poker game. Please say you’ll come.
If you’re unwilling to catalog a plethora of Think Progress errors, then could you fill me in on the Sarah Palinesque “tenets of the Laffer Curve” and the ones you agree with? Could you at least tell me how many there are?
Thanks in advance. And think about that poker invite.
Why just yesterday you seemed so sure you could easily find a long string of errors from Think Progress
I can. And please don’t beg me for it anymore. I don’t care to get into a marathon argument with you about just how bad all their fuck-ups are. Besides, I’ve just been called dumb and accused of never opening a book by a comic book afficianado so I’ve been busy trying to smarten myself up.
Dennis’ list of Think Progress mistakes are right next to Nixon’s secret plan to win the war. And I clearly learned all that from my funny books. Or something.
I don’t care to get into a marathon argument with you about just how bad all their fuck-ups are.
To Dennis, and every other hit and run conservative hack out there, either bring the shit or shut the fuck up.
It’s real simple.
If you don’t have the time to back up some bullshit comment, don’t make it.
Otherwise, this is about as sorry an excuse as you can get.
OW: I’m thinking of an ongoing feature highlighting right-wingers trying to pass b.s. on that ends up getting pwned by liberals doing something crazy: checking.
That’s something I’ve thought the Democrats should be doing for a long time. Ever since Kerry’s open mike gaffe where he said (paraphrasing) “These guys are the biggest bunch of liars I’ve seen in my life.” Rather than trying to get past the “goof” that should have become the unofficial slogan for his campaign.
Point it out EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. and follow up with a “biggest liars I’ve seen in my life” catch phrase. Make the general public perception of the Republicans be that they are a bunch of liars who are trying to fool you.
Dennis: I’ve just been called dumb and accused of never opening a book by a comic book afficianado
Which just further demonstrates how closed your mind is, how limited your views, how ignorant your understanding and how much you really need to read SOMEthing.
Is there some preexisting list of Thinkprogress’s goofs online somewhere, Dennis? If you don’t have the time or inclination to post it yourself, surely you’ve time for a link, eh?
Think Progress Takes Climate Alarmism to Absurd Degrees
…So, Satyam, what’s your background in climatology and/or meteorology that gives you climate expertise superior to Coleman’s?
Olbermann [and Think Progress] Falsely Accuses Palin of Cutting Special Olympics Funds
…Sadly, what’s on display here is either a shocking ignorance concerning budgets, or a willful intent to deceive.
Think Progress Screws Up Again
…How Amanda got from “security guard” to “U.S. soldier” is unclear, unless it was only intended to smear, like the false accusation she leveled at John McCain last week.
The blogger Seixon sends details of his own battle with moonbat privacy invaders who have harassed his family… Scroll down. Think Progress reporters take it upon themselves to call the home of a commenter.
According to Left-Wing bloggers, ‘Obscure right-wing blogger Patterico’ got an advance copy to ‘Path to 9/11′.
Easy to find Think Progress fuck-ups. Easy to find many more. Very easy. Not so easy to cut and paste. Half-hour of time better spent with my family wasted for no one who will appreciate it.
@fafaroo- You were never involved in this. Perhaps its you who should do the STFU’ing.
@Oliver the Troops-basher- Don’t forget John Kerry when you mention deceitful politicians who claimed to have a secret plan to get us out of a war.
So… your big evidence is 2-4 links, most of them not working? (A genius such as yourself ought to know how to do something as simple as an html link). In one of the links you cite, TP was citing two other sources of information – and this is key to what we were discussing originally – they posted an update to it. For groups like TP and in my first hand experience at Media Matters, when we make a mistake that is verifiable by actual data and not the ramblings of the right wing fringe… we make a correction. This can’t be said of the right. But then they start of from a basis of make-believe, so a correction of any sort is kinda moot.
…our story continues…
ed: Raise to $1.50.
Snake: I’m out.
Frisco: Me too.
Ratdawg: Too rich for my blood.
Dennis: I’m in.
ed: OK, it’s just you and me, Dennis. Time to call. I have a Full Boat, Jacks over Aces.
Dennis: I can so-totally beat that!
…to be continued…
Hey Dennis, thanks for those useless links. I’ll let you know when I get around to clicking them.
Now about those “tenets of the Laffer Curve”…
“According to Left-Wing bloggers, ‘Obscure right-wing blogger Patterico’ got an advance copy to ‘Path to 9/11′.”
Wow, you’ve really got them there, Dennis. It was actually someone who was a blogger under Patterico’s site, not THE Patterico, who posted this screed. Of course if someone actually followed the link on TP’s article, they could find his name because its right on top of the article.
Of course, given your history of attributing everything said by anyone from the left to George Soros and Markos Moulitsas, your feigned outrage is inappropriate.
Of course, given your history of attributing everything said by anyone from the left to George Soros and Markos Moulitsas, your feigned outrage is inappropriate.
My feigned outrage is inappropriate. Oooh-kay. I’m not someone who wastes much time on what Soros or Kos has to say so I think you have the wrong person, but I’m not all outraged. I just disagree with the notion that TP only deals in verifiable facts and has only made one mistake, as claimed by the blog-OWner here. Of course, now that has also been amended/clarified to be ‘when they do make mistakes, they own up to it’.
Simply put, the Right spews rhetoric with no backup.
Later, they cite sites that cite sites that cite sites. That was almost a tongue twister! Nne of which really “suppors” their original “facts”.
OK, time to tally up. Dennis attempts to produce 5 links, but only 3 actually work. Of those three, one is bogus accounting bulljive, another is a correction (uncorrected by the accuser, it ought to be noted), and the last one is simply not true, as Enlightened Liberal points out. The other two non-working links appear to be non-Science based Global Warming denial and “moonbat” slurs. That it? That’s all you got? Wow, you really are the Party of Palin.
But back to the poker analogy. I had a Full Boat. Dennis has the equivalent of a suited Ace, King, Queen, Ten, and Nine. Which means, naturally, that he was a….
…anyone?…
…it should be obvious…
…Dennis was a Jack off!
(That was for the comic effect, of course. Dennis really had the equivalent of Jack Shit.)

Think Progres Hugs the Tar Baby
Think Progress’ are well-documented and easily accessible for everyone here to see for themselves. Oliver knows how to access these, and I’m sure for someone who scours conservative sites daily he’s well in tune with Think Progress’ reputation for shoddy reporting and neophyte analysts, but instead claims the site has only made one mistake that they quickly apologized for. I’m the dumb one for my frustration in not carefully cutting and pasting links in HTML to a small-box window at another blog, but everyone here who thinks they are enlightened begs and chides me for information that a simple google search quickly provides.
———–
@Mister ed- Dude, seriously, you need a new drug. How could I have ever predicted that you would counter anything I posted about a Think Progress fuck-up? You begged for it, anything, five times, like a little puppy dog expecting a treat. Life’s much too short. My only point is that TP is not the beacon of light and truth you and OW claim it to be.
If you want to believe it is, I guess there is nothing that will convince you otherwise.
Apologies for your post not appearing, the multiple links red flagged it as spam and it never showed up in my moderation queue. As I’ve noted before, I don’t remove stuff that isn’t illegal, obscene or an unwarranted personal attack. If you see a post like this now show up, just email me.
Think Progress Takes Climate Alarmism to Absurd Degrees
Right wing bitching about TP sussing out the absurd RW push behind the weather channel cofounder who has no science background to his anti-science global warming nonsense.
The blogger Seixon sends details of his own battle with moonbat privacy invaders who have harassed his family…
No factual error here, right wing whining about TP checking RW claims (again).
Olbermann [And Think Progress, but I repeat myself] Falsely Accuses Palin of Cutting Special Olympics Funds
Palin cut the Special Olympics request. No factual error there.
Think Progress Screws Up Again
This was your initial complaint. As I noted, TP corrected their error.
Think Progress Libels Us
No error. National Center is in part propped up by the oil industry.
Think Progress Offers Shoddy Research (Again)
The claim is that scientific consensus isn’t in favor of global warming. Except it is.
Think Progress Misrepresents Phone Call Between Brothers as “Chemical Weapons” Evidence
The distinction here is between what is and isn’t a chemical weapon. The writer asusmes that if the NYT says it a liberal must agree with it. Nonsense.
Think Propaganda
Mark Kolydys attacks TP for actually reporting what Fox news said. Yawn.
Think Pilferage
Now Kolydys claims his taping of a copyrighted show is copyrighted. Or something. Please.
Extra! Stop the Presses! Think Progress Lies About McCain
Yet again TP accurately quotes someone, and the right is enraged. Conservative James Joyner conceded that McCain answered the question badly.
I should note at this point that your citations go rapidly downhill as you begin citing Gateway Pundit, which even in the world of con blogs is beyond sloppy. Was Pam Gellar busy?
Bummer… Leftwing Blog Loses Readership After Being Exposed
This is whining about traffic stats. Nothing (again) about factual errors. Ironically its arguing that MM and Think Progress don’t matter.
Loony Left Blog “Think Progress” Makes Terrible A$$ of Themselves
Again no factual error documented.
Think Progress Smears Jenna Bush
No factual errors, though TP’s readers found the entry too fluffy.
Think Progress hugs the tar baby
At best TP made an error about people being fired for using the phrase. They corrected this. The larger point did not change.
All in all, a pretty lame list of things. These are conservative disagreements largely, not errors of facts. This is what you guys don’t seem to get. Facts matter. Its why the emotional whining of groups like MRC aren’t taken seriously. Furthermore, this list of yours sort of fulfills my original thesis. You didn’t think anybody would actually check. But we did.
WE CHECKED!
Oliver- I’ve made five attempts to post 15 links of Think Progress fuck-ups, of which barely scratches the surface, but nevertheless have not gone through. Either you are blocking them or your blog does not allow for multiple links. If you want to chide me for not having the brains to put them in proper format and then block me when I do, then that’s pretty bad.
Either you are blocking them or your blog does not allow for multiple links.
Or your post went into moderation and OW will let it through in just a little while. Sheesh, calm down.
Takin’ flak from multiple fronts, QIB. Much of it nonsense, but you’re right, B/P must be up a little. Seriously, I’ve a lot of trouble posting links here well before this, and that truthfully is why I don’t go to the trouble of providing them when goaded into doing so, especially when the goader is not interested in learning anything, like is he case with Mister ed.
I still haven’t learned what the “tenets of the Laffer Curve” are. Or even how many there are. Or which ones I’m supposed to agree with. Why haven’t you bothered to tell me about those, anyway? We’ll start with how many:
Dennis, how many “tenets of the Laffer Curve” are there?
Why is that so hard?
Oliver- I’ve made five attempts to post 15 links of Think Progress fuck-ups,
Oh goody, more Sarah Palin-like nonsense to mock.
Oh goody, more Sarah Palin-like nonsense to mock.
So that’s all you wanted to do was to mock? That’s why you begged like a little puppy terrier for it?
If you want it so bad, why don’t ask Oliver to release it or perhaps have him email it to you.
So that’s all you wanted to do was to mock? That’s why you begged like a little puppy terrier for it?
Bring us something which is not mock-worthy then.
Still waiting for the “tenets of the Laffer Curve”, also.
And are you coming over for poker night or what? I could use a little extra whisky money.
The blogger Seixon sends details of his own battle with moonbat privacy invaders who have harassed his family…
No factual error here, right wing whining about TP checking RW claims (again).
By calling his house and speaking with his relatives???
This you condone and call the offended person a whiner???
Actually, I did think you would check. And I also thought the resulting one or two sentence sluff-off dismissals would be the result, so why bother. A useless and futile exercise for both of us. Their view of the world and the tactics they use to indict conservatives and conservatism repulses me. You obviously think they are beyond reproach. No mystery there. But to say ‘no errors of facts’ when they abuse the ‘facts’ they cite is nonsense. It’s shoddy reporting from neophyte journalists who posses an obsessive desire to criticize conservatives- my original thesis.
And I apologize for implying you were bashing the troops. I know you don’t and weren’t, but the original statement you made could easily be interpreted by anyone to mean that you were. It would be ‘factual’ to take what you wrote and plaster it up on another website and claim that you were knocking the troops, or, in another tactic employed frequently by liberal fact-checking blogs, put your quote up with a headline like ‘Was Oliver Willis bashing Iraq War troops?’ like you and many other blogs just did with the Clarence Thomas ’sleeping’ picture.
