Oh, Bill Donohue
Tweet
Here’s a press release from right-wing Catholic agitator Bill Donohue, responding to President Obama’s reversal of the Bush administration’s policy of cutting off family planning funding for women around the world:
“Here we have a black president taking money from the taxpayers in a time of economic crisis and giving it to organizations—many of which are anti-Catholic—so they can spend it on killing non-white babies in Third World nations. And Obama is known as a progressive.”
WTF? I know Donohue has had racial issues in the past, but this just sounds like weird right-wing blubbering.
It’s like having a black president is burning their brains.

Republican bigots just can’t help themselves. They are who we thought they were.
Yikes!! I come to OW and see the redesign and the first post I come to is one on Bill Donohue. Thanks for making me spit Mountain Dew all over my computer screen, OW!!
Holy crap! It’s Save Farris!
I’m sure he next explained how a rapidly spiraling population will do anything but worsen the lives of the already-born in developing countries.

I’m always impressed with Donohue and his fellow Opus Dei self-flagellants trying to appropriate the same language that the right-wing pro-Israeli wingnuts (obviously the venn diagram here has significant overlap) use against anyone who dare criticize Israel (anti-Catholic=anti-semite, etc). Of course, it’s not effective, since anti-catholic doesn’t carry the same cachet as anti-semite, but they appear to be completely unaware of that fact..
And of course, his casual racism is just a bonus. In Donohue’s deluded mind, the only racist is our black president killing non-white babies. Why does Obama hate the non-white fetuses?
“It’s like having a black president is burning their brains.”
It is… Limbaugh outdid himself the other day… and this is only the beginning.
What a waste it is to lose one’s mind. Or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is. — Vice President Dan Quayle
I love the ” in an economic crisis” part, as if Donahue would be cool with Obama’s striking down of the global gag rule if the American economy was peachy keene.
Here’s the thing — since most Conservatives like our own Jay and so on have never had sex with a woman, they tend not to realize that wearing a condom distributed by an NGO in Africa is not the same thing as having an abortion. In fact, it prevents them from needing to happen.
The Catholic Church was involved in one of the worst sex crimes cover-ups of all time. They have lost the right to moralize to others for at least 100 years.
Well the thing is Donohue is barely connected to the Church.
Well the thing is Donohue is barely connected to the Church.
Yet quite connected to the Republican party and whom they select for the Supreme Court and what have you. Lovely bunch, that Republican party.
(And while Donohue’s not techinically tied to tightly to the Church, he’s perceived by many to be, so that may as well be true.)
