I've got this mental picture of Jay sitting in his mom's basement in his streak-marked tightie whities and his "Palin/McCain 2008!" T-shirt choking back tears and rocking himself maniacally while President Barack Hussein Obama is inaugurated as #44, and 70 percent of America rejoices.

How accurate am I, Jay?

J. G. Thayer: "Actually, I’m feeling pretty darned good. I don’t have a single person in DC that I voted for, so I’m reveling in the old saw about “freedom’s just another word for nothin’ left to lose.” I can just kick back and enjoy myself, utterly unencumbered by the slightest sense of responsibility for whatever happens — hey, I didn’t vote for ‘em."

I assumed you didn't vote for Bush, twice, otherwise this statement would be so hypocritical, as to cause the Earth to spin off it's axis and into the heart of the sun.

"But I am hoping for Obama’s health and success. The thought of Biden wielding any kind of power really scares me."

After 8 years of Bush & Cheney?

Good god, you are a fucking 'tard.

“Being a loser and as bitter about it…”

SFC B: "Without being snarky or sarcastic, I think that would be an apt description for half of all registered Democrats since about mid-December 2000."

I think a better way to describe us would be the word, "correct."

George W. Bush was a failure in practically every way imaginable.

I guess I missed the time when little Jay took a break from blaming Bill Clinton for the 9/11 attacks to take responsibility for all the colossal Republican fuckups he helped vote for, but yeah, I guess he deserves a break from taking responsibility sort of the way Paris Hilton needs a vacation from work.

Jesus, what a twat Jay is.

You should mention that to the next President. I'm sure he'll be interested to learn from a Republican douchebag that the racism he experienced as a black man in the U.S. wasn't legitimate. Mighty white of you to point that out.

Randy: Hmm... that might work.

The medievalist in me, though, is teaming up with the punster to suggest "First Lady In Waiting."

All moot in a few hours, though, for at least four years.

"BTW, JT, did anyone ever mention to you that Obama is black? Yup, he’s black. Blackity-black-black-black. The president, your president, is going to be black.

Just thought I’d mention that.

Black, also."

LOL,
Gosh that seems racist somehow. Curious that you bring this up. We still don't have an African American as president. We have an American/African. The vast majority of blacks in this country are descended from natives of West Africa and sometimes Central Africa and then hybridized with white or indian blood. Obama is 1/2 American through his mom and 1/2 East African through his dad. The East Africans were primarily enslaved by the Arabs and never made it to America.

So yeah, Obama's black, blackity-black-black-black but he ain't native, he's an import.

“That man is going to be president someday.”

Chris Matthews played a self-congratulatory clip this a.m. of his reaction to Obama's 2000 convention speech in which he said "That's the first black president." Much as I loathe Matthews' opportunism and perennial softballing, he was, in fact, prescient.

Spineless or not, Matthews had a good ear.

"I think that would be an apt description for half of all registered Democrats since about mid-December 2000"

If by "Democrats" you mean "American people," then yeah, I was bitter that the guy who got fewer votes won. Not nearly as much in 2004 where Kerry blew it because he was afraid to swing back at the Republican smear machine.

But hey, it's all about the future, right? I eagerly await your support of our new President Obama.

Oh...listen closely to Obama right after the end of his Baltimore speech. He yells to someone, "Come on...let's get out of here!" But he didn't make a quick getaway; he stayed for about five minutes to shake hands, and Mrs. O received a number of hugs.

Actually, I'm feeling pretty darned good. I don't have a single person in DC that I voted for, so I'm reveling in the old saw about "freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose." I can just kick back and enjoy myself, utterly unencumbered by the slightest sense of responsibility for whatever happens -- hey, I didn't vote for 'em.

But I am hoping for Obama's health and success. The thought of Biden wielding any kind of power really scares me.
