It’s like these guys take pride in being ignorant.

How long until the Right Wing Conventional Wisdom becomes “Oh, Joe was never really conservative; he was never one of Us.” like it became with Commander Bunnypants in the past coupla years.

Again, I am luv luv LUVing that the leading intellectual lights of modern conservatism are Joe the Intrepid War Correspondent (formerly country singer, plumber, etc.) and Sarah Palin.

There was a good post on Daily Kos the other day from a Kossack who had been invited to debate a Republican on whether America is a center-right nation, as the booboisie repeatedly claim. At the end of the excellent discussion, a final riposte was added which I hadn’t thought of before but which crystallizes the issue:

Assume for the moment America is “center-right”. Center=moderate, no? Well where are the “centrists”, the “moderates” in today’s Republican party? There aren’t any! They’ve all been purged! Being bashed as “RINOs”, they’ve all been primaried out or replaced with Democrats. The only Rs left are the frothingest of wingnuts, and you have most of the base screaming that they need to be even wingnuttier! If by their own argument, America is “CENTER-right”, then they have already eliminated the elements of their own party which would be most likely to form a coalition to build a new majority in the future!

Damn JT, even the wizards at your former site are dissing your boy Joe. But I’m sure he’s about to whip out his brilliant analysis which will destroy the evil MSM any minute NOW….

    I mean NOW.

    NOW NOW NOW!!

damn. I guess not. Better luck next time…

Whoever coined “Edward R. Moron,” by the way, that’s a keeper.

“It’s like these guys take pride in being ignorant.”

This is a feature, not a bug, of Republicanism.

  7. rjpb says:

    Joe serves a dual purpose

To irritate liberals(i.e. all non-conservative Americans) with his narcissistic self-promotion and “regular guy” schtick.
And to bring attention to the nearly forgotten Pajamas Media empire.

    MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

    Talk about backing off:

The president-elect tells CBS that the terror leader must be “pinned down,” but not necessarily killed or captured.

“If we have so tightened the noose that he’s in a cave somewhere and can’t even communicate with his operatives, then we will meet our goal of protecting America.”

BTW, kudos to August for this awesome description of Joe.

  10. Enlightened Liberal says:

Of course William, that isn’t really all he said:

“Couric: How important do you think it is, Mr. President-elect, to apprehend Osama bin Laden?

Mr. Obama: I think that we have to so weaken his infrastructure that, whether he is technically alive or not, he is so pinned down that he cannot function. My preference obviously would be to capture or kill him. But if we have so tightened the noose that he’s in a cave somewhere and can’t even communicate with his operatives, then we will meet our goal of protecting America. ”

And you disagree how? Oh right, it’s a Democrat.

Remember how Bush said “I don’t care where he is, I don’t spend much time thinking about him.”? Didn’t think so.
