Tony Dungy is clearly one of the “good guy” coaches in the NFL, but is there any reason to label him, as the Washington Post’s Sally Jenkins does, a “Champion Of Decency“? At the end of the day Dungy is/was a football coach, not some sort of major leader or whatnot. I don’t know, maybe I’m being too sensitive but it seems like title inflation. This might also be because I think Jenkins is the bottom of the WaPo’s stable of sports columnists, providing little in the way of actual insight.
Don’t you know the rules? The more you go on and on about your religion, the better person you are. Public piety is the only measure of decency.

At the end of the day Obama is a handsome man, an eloquent reader of TelePrompTers, and a well-educated but typically ruthless Chicago Machine politician, but he’s done nothing to prove himself as any sort of major leader or what not. Yeah, it’s a puff piece, but all well-liked coaches get those when they retire.

Dungy was unable to deflect God’s wrath from the Irsay family for stealing the Colts from Baltimore, so any prayers he offers on Obama’s behalf will probably be routed to heavenly voicemail.
