Living proof that democrats care more about style than substance.
So far Obama has been behaving like Bush-Lite. I look forward to seeing how you rationalize his actions after he actually, you know, starts doing stuff.
Answer: Barrack Hussein Obama is the President Elect.
I wonder how many people who write “Barack Hussein Obama” also regularly refer to his opponent in 2008 as “John Sidney McCain.”
How often do you use middle names of politicians, joaquin? Is it always, or just when it theoretically denigrates someone you disagree with?
Answer: Barrack Hussein Obama is the President Elect.
Buzzkill.
Answer: Barrack Hussein Obama is the President Elect.
And yet, still a superior president to George Bush, Junior.
Funny as this was, I think you’re right that he’s earned entry into the ‘great’ echelon already simply by virtue of being good enough to break the race barrier. Greatest will have to wait, and is as dependent upon external circumstances as it is on the officeholder.

Come on JoJo, Barrack is cool with Hussein, when it’s convenient. Why aren’t you? Chill.

Can I link to this post next time a commenter says that it’s right-wingers making it up when they say liberals think Obama is the bestest thing since fire?

No, you can instead check out the archives of The Colbert Report, Einstein.
I’m torn.
Do I make a “messiah” reference, or a fellatio reference?
Both seem equally inappropriate, yet fitting.
HE IS NOT THE PRESIDENT. NOT FOR ANOTHER 13 DAYS.
The Obama administration is still an abstract concept.
On the flip side, does this mean that those of us who didn’t vote for him can start discussing impeachment?
J.
Parthenon must also believe that Condeleeza Rice and Alberto Gonzales are both all-time “greats” in their respective positions for breaking down color barriers as well.
Neither yet.
With his current appointments (Guba) tax cuts and silence on the Israeli massacre, looks like Obama will be a Center Right president.
Emphasis on the right.
Rice didn’t exactly break down any color barriers in her appointments to positions. She wasn’t the first black person to be National Security Advisor or Secretary of State. She was the first woman to be the National Security Advisor though.
HE IS NOT THE PRESIDENT. NOT FOR ANOTHER 13 DAYS.
And yet still a better president than the current [technical] president. Better than the practical president (Cheney and occasionally Rove) too. Way better. Who could have imagined…

In fact I do, though we may be using the word ‘great’ differently. By that I mean deserving of mention in an education setting, not necessarily referring to accomplishment.

There were “Impeach Obama” t-shirts on sale the day after election day. Freepers move fast.
looks like Obama will be a Center Right president
Are you going to gnash your teeth, rend garments, or both?
We are speaking 2 different languages then. IMHO, “Great” signifies some sort of positive achievement. I can see what you’re getting at, but I’d opt to use something along the lines of “notable”.
To address Oliver’s question:
Never has a president-elect who looked so GOOD entered a situation that looked so BAD. No one knew FDR or Lincoln would be as good as they were. But Obama has been scrutinized mercilessly 24/7 for–what?–1 1/2 years? and has come up looking–brilliant, wise, pragmatic, confident, centered, quick. And candid. I’m not sure FDR or Abe himself would have looked so good in the intensity of that glare.
Can he be THE greatest president? I truly believe he’s got the moxie. But it depends on the scale and nature of the disasters he faces, the makeup of the Congress he works with.
We won’t have a judgment in our lifetimes, of course, any judgment worth taking seriously. But it’ll be fascinating to be around to watch, and guess.
We are speaking 2 different languages then.
Indeed. Our team is speaking Reality-Based American English. Yours, in tongues.
To address Oliver’s question:
O-Will already addressed his own question. The full credit response is “heh.”
Onward!
Yes! Greatest… presnit… EVAR!!1!!11!!!!1
Man. I’m shocked.. SHOCKED… that right wingers didn’t get that this was written tongue in cheek.
But Obama has been scrutinized mercilessly 24/7 for–what?–1 1/2 years?
Thanks, anotherbozo. I needed a good chuckle!!!
Your sentence would read much more accurately if you replace the word “scrutinized” with “fellated”.

Only if I can link to this comment the next time a commenter insists that right-wingers do to have a sense of humor.

fafaroo FTW!
It will be very, very hard for him to overcome the mistake of calling for an increased military budget. I think he’s pretty much blown it right there. But we’ll have to wait and see. But I certainly did not vote for someone who would increase the military budget and the deficits, while cutting health care and social security. A big disappointment. Looking forward to 2012, and another chance at change.
Seriously, can we stop with the kvetching until the guy actually starts his new job?
And people wonder why conservative comedy keeps failing. You guys seem to need big signs saying THIS IS A JOKE or else you lack clue.
Coincidentally enough, noted conservative humorist Dave “Iowahawk” Burges has released his “2009 year in review.” It’s quite entertaining:

Jay Tea writes:

Wow. Jay Tea delivers more proof of the oxymoron that is the phrase “conservative comedian”.
Good grief, Jay Tea’s now playing the “I know funny” card. He’s a latter day Richard Cohen.
I got a better question to ask.
Barack Obama: Threat Or Menace?
J.
To repeat: And people wonder why conservative comedy keeps failing.
Shoulda known a confessed Superman fanboy wouldn’t get a J. Jonah Jameson reference…
J.
I’m not even a sports fan, and that was funny.
Jay Tea, I think we’ve pretty much settled the fact that conservatives have no sense of humor: http://www.oliverwillis.com/2009/01/07/lemme-be-the-first-to-ask/#comment-131832
Leave it to a Superman fanboy like Oliver to not get a classic J. Jonah Jameson reference.
J.
Are you sock puppeting now, J?
SCREW YOU, DUROS.
I do NOT sock puppet.
I have banned people for sock puppetry.
Feel free to ask Oliver to confirm it. I’m sure he has access to the records.
J.
Dang… double posting. Didn’t see that first one got through. My apologies…

Geez, man. Sorry. Little sensitive?
