Just no market for guys like us anymore. Everybody needs to watch television while they're on the bus. Heaven forbid anybody crack one of those little square objects with words in them - what are they called again?

Yes, that's right, I'm getting old.

Parthenon: I thought you were against spending that kind of money on a phone (as I am).

Luddite that I can be at times, do you realize how difficult it is to find a reasonably priced and useful phone that just places and receives phone calls?

Don't want to cruise the web on an itty bitty screen. Don't want/need PTT or GPS or any of the other (literally) bells and whistles to know exactly where my friends are ant every moment or, more importantly, have anyone know where I am at every moment. Don't need a camera. Don't need tiny buttons placed in the most inconvenient places possible so I can't close the lid with one hand without turning the speaker on. Don't need an orchestra in my pocket.

A phone. That makes and receives phone calls, goes "ring" when someone calls me and has buttons that are scaled to the size of a human finger.

Retailers (especially with consumer electronics) always used to complain that consumers would come into the store, learn what they needed to know, then go down the street to Circuit City and actually buy it. This pattern later replicated itself to the Internet.

Nice to see some payback to the brick and mortar. How cool and complete the circle would be if you were checking Amazon while in a local book store, yes?
