The Norse Gods are aliens/interdimensional beings. as are the other gods from most other pantheons.

Thats pretty much how it goes in the marvel universe.

That was actually really nice. See Marvel, if you just stick to the basics of these characters, there’s a lot of life in them and they’re pretty kick ass.

I dunno if you saw the JLA/Avengers crossover, Oliver, but it had a truly great scene where DC’s Wonder Woman confronted Marvel’s Hercules over his treatment of her mother, Queen Hippolyta of the Amazons. THAT was not a pleasant moment…

Also, in the DCU the Greek/Roman gods are “real”, usually in some connection to Wonder Woman. There was also a poorly executed crossover about a decade or more ago where the Greek/Roman gods fought the Egyptian ones.

Rheinhard, the Marvel Norse gods are the originals, a race of immortal superhumans whom the Vikings worshipped. Big Blondie is the original Hairy Thunderer, with the accept-no-substitutes Mjolnir, and they all live beyond Bifrost, the Rainbow Bridge, in shiny Asgard.

In the Marvel universe, they’ve explained several pantheons as races of immortal superhumans. I’ve kind of lost track of how they reconciled the Greek/Roman gods, though. I think they were two separate groups, but I’m not sure.

Is this an “in theaters” movie, or a “Cartoon Network special” kinda movie. Looks OK, but the animation looks much more on the level of the latter than the former.

I’ll admit I’ve bever been much of a devotee of American superhero comix so I’d like to know – why does the Norse mythos get singled out as being “real” here? Are Thor et al. supposed to be the actual gods that Erik the Red would have worshipped, or just a bunch of people pretending to be so? Or aliens?

If I were to incarnate some deities, I’d much rather pick, say, the Hindu pantheon. If we must have gods, I want mine to be good and weird: 4 faces/arms should be a bare minimum. But it always seems the religions of peoples that weren’t blonde never count as much.
