Before anybody squeals about bias: First black president, ladies and gents, first black president.

  2. I'm a Hick says:

I’m glad they’re back to naming deserving people. I was afraid it was going to be the i-phone.

  3. SaveFarris says:

The bias wasn’t this one: (every first-elected president since Nixon except Bush I the year they pulled that ‘Planet of the Year’ stunt) was named POTY when they first took office. Obama’s win was as unsuprising as Phelp’s win for Athlete of the Year.

The bias is in the twenty four other times his picture appeared on the cover this year. Overkill, no?

  4. Apsaras says:

Barack Obama should be disqualified as Man of the Year as he was already given that title with the omnibus “You” award of 2006. As a strange person on the internet, it is my right to demand that Barack Obama produce a gold-embossed Vault Certificates of Conception, Quickeneing, and Birth. This way we can determine if he is indeed of English-speaking national origin and therefore included in said omnibus “You” entry. Until he releases these documents, his achievement of this honor from Time Warner publishing will be forever marred by this totally legitimate scandal me and Peggy Noonan invented over cocktails in Georgetown.

And Ferris, the only bias Time Magazine observes is the bias toward Making Money (something print media seems to have some trouble doing lately). If Barack Obama was the big story for the past couple weeks, then he gets the cover. They’re under no obligation to throw a bone to Tom Tancredo just because.

Yeah, there’s no news value in a black guy running in the closet party nomination ever then being a major party candidate supported by an unprecedented grassroots campaign at all. They totally should have done more Ann Coulter covers.

  6. midderpidge says:

I believe Obama is also the first president to be a member of a Native American Indian tribe

  7. Jaim says:

If he can help to pull America out of the Republican-created Depression, he’ll be the person of the 21st century. Or the first half of it, at least, just like FDR.

  8. SaveFarris says:

Still, 24? TWENTY-FOUR? Once every 2 weeks? Was there no other news this year?

Well, considering that you’ve been in a compa for the last 8 years, I’ll let this slide. The answer is pretty much “no”, alot of attention was focused on the election.
