I believe the canon origin for Wolverine is that he was born sometime in the 1800s to a wealthy family somewhere in the Americas. His name was James. After some tragedy (I forget) he runs away to the yukon and works as a logger.

I read the graphic novel “Origin” but forgot a lot of the details.

Also, did Wolverine fight in WWII? Is that canon? Been a while since my comic book days.

Been a while since I followed Wolverine or X-Men closely. So I’ve missed several revisions of his origins. But there was a story in an early issue of Wolverine where he worked with Cap in WWII so I think that he’s significantly older than he looks has been established. (Although that particular story also had the Black Widow in it, so…

Looked to me that hew was in something more like civil war garb around the 19 second mark. If you can get a clear still frame from before the smoke appears, he’s clearly carrying a flintlock with bayonet.

Looks like Storm/Ororo Munroe makes an appearance as a little girl. And I think Wolverine fought in WWI, but I’m not sure.

Let’s see: Gambit (boo, never liked him), The Blob (cool), I _think_ Emma Frost. Who else did people spy in there?

Personally, I’d rather see a goo ol’ Alpha Flight movie. I hope some of those characters make it in.

Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is pretty much Wolverine. There’s a reason he’s one of the most popular Marvel characters.

I’d imagine the badguy will be Sabertooth, or at least the dragon will be. Wikipedia indicates that he wasn’t in the later movies precisely so they could save him for a wolverine origins movie. Sabertooth and Wolverine have almost identical powers.

And Wolverine heals from gunshot wounds in seconds. Hell, in Civil War he healed from being burnt to a cinder while his enemy (Nitro) made a phone call.
