As an anime fan for over 25 years, I must disagree with your assessment in general, though I agree in the particular (Dragonball Z and its various sequels do indeed blow). Hayao Miyazaki is a god among men, but other than his films, when you go to the TV realm, a lot of what I feel is the best of the lot never make it over here commerically. I usually loathe the “popular” shows on TV (Naruto, Bleach, Dragonball, etc.) but for every one of those there is a “Mushishi” or “Planetes”.
Yeah, the anime thing isn’t going to ever work for me. I tried and tried it and it doesn’t jibe in the way Disney/Warner do.
It’s great that the Tuskegee Airmen are invited to the inauguration, but what about a heroic African-American blogger who campaigned night and day for a year for Obama? Does he get a ticket?
Well, saying you don’t like Anime is like saying you don’t like comedies – I’ll agree with Rheinhard, for every POS like DBZ there is a Cowboy Bebop or Bleach that you’d dig.
I couldn’t disagree with you more on Terminator, though. After watching TSCC, the concept of a robot apocalypse and a savior who knows his future has more depth than you’d think.
Also – try hard to think of a bad Christian Bale movie aside from Reign of Fire. There isn’t one.

Yeah, even Christian Bale may be unable to revivify the Terminator franchise at this point.

Whatever Nicole is wearing, or not wearing, she is freakin awesome. I mean, come on!
There’s something special about a woman in golf gloves:
“Oh Mrs. Crane, you’re a little monkey woman.”
“Bark like a dog for me, you dirty girl”
DBZ was for kids but you can’t judge an entire genre from one show.
What about Ghost in a Shell, Paranoia Agent, Code Geass, Gravion, or Rah Xephon?
Anime makes up most of the television I watch. Yes there are some crappy ones like DBZ or god forbid pokemon. But you can’t ignore the gems.
And Duros I think you posted on the wrong site.
My eldest son was flirting with DBZ, but fell hard for Naruto. The animation is better, and the storyline is MUCH more compelling.
Then “Avatar: The Last Airbender” came along, and the ENTIRE family was sucked in. That was one sockdolager of a series. Check it out if you haven’t already.
