Like any of Mankind's endeavors, the urge to fuck it up is very strong.

The task turns to looking sharply at how we fucked up so bad. One good example of looking at the process was the Challenger explosion investigation. They found out what went wrong, and the culture that let that kind of problem crop up. That is the kind of thing we need to do about the Financial Meltdown of 2008.

Why the regulatory agencies let things go so long against all the folks who saw the problems. When the dog didn't bark, you know who the thief was.

"a good man to set right what has gone wrong"

I'm thankful he may just be brilliant and patient and pragmatic and thick-skinned enough to pull it off. Gawd knows it won't be easy.

I'm thankful for my lovely wife and daughters. Without them I would just fade away.

I'm thankful for the blogosphere. I can't even watch TV anymore. The stupid is too much to take.

I'm thankful my home improvement projects are almost over. I'm no good at this.

I'm thankful I had the foresight (THANKS MOM!!!!) to pull out of the market even if I had the wrong reasons (I thought Bush was insane enough to attack Iran, oil prices went up anyway).

I'm thankful the Bush years are over. And they're over all right, they won't even shake that asshole's hand. The Saint Reagan AND Bush Jr regimes occurred during my adult life. I've had enough of this shit.

Thanks America for waking up enough to smell that smell and vote out the Cheney-Burton oligarchy. That's the real source of hope, that possibly, just maybe, trickle-down crony capitalism is fucking dead for 60 or 70 years.
