The Obama BOOM

Conservatives in print, broadcast, and online have tried to make hay about the market going down in the last few weeks – trying lamely to tie it to Obama’s election despite the evidence to the contrary that the market downturn for the past year to year and a half is a clear outgrowth of Republican neglect of government watchdogging – so according to their silly standard Obama is making the market boom. Since his pick of Treasury secretary last Friday the Dow is up about 600 points.

Also, we should credit him for the $1.99/gal gas we now enjoy.

So you’ve never heard of the power of suggestion? It’s clear: everything bad to happen up to 2006 was Clinton’s fault. Everything bad that happened after that was the fault of congressional democrats; now that Obama’s been elected everything is his fault retroactive to 2004.

This last Sunday I was talking to this guy that seriously believed that the reason we enjoy low gas prices now is because John McCain promised to drill in the US. Seriously. He said this after McCain lost. And after gas prices failed to rise in the aftermath of that failure.

    Pretty damn ridiculous.

Republicans, being the liars that they are, still try to argue that the 90’s _weren’t_ a good time for Americans financially. Things is, nobody’s is buying their bullshit any longer. People made more money and had more job security under a Clinton presidency, period. 9/11 was terrible, but the further we move away from it the more we’ll begin to realize it made for an irrational over-correction towards tired, failed Republican ideology and corruption.

It’s going to be a few years, but Obama’s team will get America back on track. Electing Palin/McCain would’ve been a fiscal disaster.

Simply put, the Republican party can’t be trusted to run America ever again.

Shock therapy. Hopefully we will begin to realize that we saw it as a tragedy. They saw it as an opportunity.
