Seriously, how culturally ossified to you have to be to use them as a guide to anything? Britney Spears? Really? In this year of great releases from Elbow, The Week That Was, Portishead, Muse, Nick Cave, The Last Shadow Puppets, Goldfrapp, Silvery, The Sparks, Dungen, Beardfish, No-Man, The Von Hertzen Brothers, Blue Sky Black Death, Squarepusher, Foals and It Bites to name just a few, they decide to feature a mass-produced vapid bimbo as their “comeback” cover star?

I’m still holding out hope for my dream ménage à trois featuring the hot version of Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan.

It would never happen (for anyone), but it’s fun to contemplate when wasting away another day at the office.
