Change Is Coming

I was down in D.C. today on The Mall (I was visiting the re-opened National Museum of American History) and from there I could see the scaffolding of the stands being built on the Capitol for the Inauguration. It took me right back to election day to see that. Very exciting, America.

Looking at your map, this “Republican” party seems incapable of winning many states that aren’t in the southeast of Great Plains region of the United States.

That’s waaaaaaay too presumptuous. The Democrats ran a juggernaut of a candidate. If they’d run a cupcake like Sen. Kerry (much as I respect the guy) it could have just as easily gone the other way. Leave us not get cocky or too hasty in pronouncing the death of the GOP.

I can imagine the feeling Oliver – it must be great. We’re all giddy with excitement for the inaguration. I still smile every time I read, or hear news stories with the phrase “President-elect Barak Obama”.

I took my daughter to The Museum of Science and Industry yesterday – and driving past the Hyde Park neighborhood said to my wife “We’re going through Obama Country!” Was exciting to think the First Family-elect was going through their Saturday morning routine just a few blocks away…

I wish just one electoral map out there would show the Congressional District in Nebraska that gave Obama its Electoral vote blue. A lot of people did a lot of work to earn that vote. And its in Nebraska for God’s sake.
