I of course bought this game the day it came out.

As much as I relish the idea of playing as Captain Marvel (and I do!) it doesn’t change the fact that very little about this game has changed since 1993, therefore not making it worth buying.
very little about this game has changed since 1993
Ironically, this is why I bought it (in addition to the DC stuff).
How’s it play, Oliver? I’m a huge, *huge* DC fan and was somewhat of a MK fan when I was a kid. I’m getting the game as soon as I get me one of the next gen systems around Christmas time, as for me it’s also one of those “of course I’ll buy this” games. But I’m still hoping it’ll be a decent fighter.
One thing I don’t get about this game: Snapping necks and impaling bodies with various bladed weapons are considered okay, but shooting the opponent in the head during a fatality is too violent to be portrayed onscreen? I thought the MK series reveled in the blood and gore and pushing the envelope?
No wonder Midway might get delisted from the NYSE.
I think that’s a quirk of the screen. At least one of the later frames in the above clip shows Joker shooting somebody at close range.
It plays fast, and does all the things a MK fighter should do with some added goodies like the mid-air fighting. I was surprised that the story mode was as deep as it is. The voice acting sucks, and the story doesn’t make a whole lotta sense, but its still a fun path to go on leading to fighting.
Deathstroke’s fatalities are just brutal!
I really like the first MK movie. I’ll admit it.
