Because the media framed it as the Democrats getting revenge, and the Democrats don’t have a sack to defend themselves with.

Honest question.

It isn’t that he was a Republican, and a particularly nasty one at that, while on the campaign trail. It’s that he isn’t competent at the job.

Unfortunately, the Dems are doing what they do best: Running scared of offending someone.

“Joe, you’re out. If you don’t like it, tough shit. If you want to caucus with the Repubs, go ahead. Bring it on, we’ll deal with it. But you are out.”

Alas, the Dems still lack a spine. Color me surprised.

Senator Lieberman, when you campaigned for this chairmanship you promised oversight and investigation. Katrina response was a particular example. So, inre your investigation into the Katrina disaster, what have you found out?

Into multiple incidents of contractor fraud in Iraq, what have you found out?

Pat Tillan’s death and cover up, what have you found out?

White House pre-war claims, what have you found out?

Dozens of other things you should have been overseeing, what have you found out?

Other than finding Obama to be a muslim terrorist, what have you learned as chairman to date?

The answer to all questions is “nothing”. Why was this even an issue?

Which of the above doesn’t fit in the group?

Get over it. The guy sucks but he has a vote. He won’t be re-elected. That will be punishment enough.

There are more important issues and the more time spent on him the more power he is handed.

Senate Democrats will vote by secret ballot on Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman ’s fate this week, according to North Dakota Sen. Byron L. Dorgan .

Lawmakers will write their vote on slip of paper, those papers will be collected and counted, and the final tally will be read aloud to the caucus. Lieberman, then, will be able to know how many of his colleagues stood with him but will not know their identities.

So the same senators who are pushing to pass the union-friendly “card check” legislation, which will take secret ballots away from American workers (and expose them to harassment from fellow employees and union officials), want to retain that privilege for themselves.

Wow.

Uh, perhaps because he votes with them almost all of the time?

Politically, it’s a smart move by the Democratic leadership because they need his vote on a variety of issues.

But it also goes to show that they have nuts the size of raisins for allowing him to keep his chair despite openly and strongly campaigning for a Republican candidate in the Presidential election.

Why do I get the feeling Lieberman has some dirt on everybody else? Why else would they keep propping him up like this?
