The Marion Barber Show

Apparently, as penance for my candidate winning by historic margins, I am doomed to see my team get punked in prime-time back to back while also giving away games they should win.

Gah! I hate Dallas so hard.

What is this “should win” stuff? We have a better QB, a better RB (if only because Portis is gimped up), a better OL and better #2-4 WRs; on defense we have a better pass rush. You have a better secondary, a better #1 WR (sorry, TO) and better run defense; TE is a wash. Given that, I’d expect a game much like this one; you had your opportunities early, but when you failed to take advantage then late in the game our lummoxes up front started grinding your defense down and we bludgeoned you to death with Barber. My only fear was that Garrett would go finesse when we needed brutality; he didn’t, and we got the “W.” Split series and we may well meet again in the wild-card round; pretty typical for Cowboys-Redskins when neither team is in the throes of a meltdown.

PS: It’s also possible that the win is a result of the football gods’ smiling on me for missing the last two Cowboys games because I was 1200 miles from Dallas knocking on doors in Ohio for your candidate and his aforementioned historic margins. Didn’t see anybody from DC canvassing in my county… :^)

  3. DP says:

Not to rub it in but I told ya we’d get you back in DC!

    Cowboys right back in it.

    Guh.

Obviously, my crystal ball needs an upgrade. It hasn’t worked right since I downloaded Windows 7 into it.

Either Norv suffered a sudden bout of amnesia and thought he was Jimmy Johnson or the Redskins got lazy and took the Cowboys for granted. I heard Jerry was so happy, he smiled and cracked his face.

    Thank God I don’t bet.

  6. Parthenon says:

Bah. They split the season series with everybody’s preseason NFC superbowl pick. Still, it would be nice to win out. The Giants are unlikely to be helpful and lose two more games.

Unrelated – Oregon State’s goin’ to the Rose Bowl, bitches.

    How the hubris falls.
I loved trash talking the skins fans from my nosebleed seats last night.

The Skins did NOTHING in the game. Their big gains were on returns, and the defense only looked good when Romo tossed a pity interception their way.

  8. Terrier says:

Yep! Sour grapes – the Skins never looked close to winning that game tho the Boys did look for 3 quarters like they wanted to lose it. At least your guys are playing above or equal to their talent! But what are you going to do with that geriatric o-line next season?

  9. liberalrob says:

It was a tough defensive struggle, and the Skins defense cracked first.

It’s just possible that Jason Campbell is NOT the 2nd coming of Doug Williams.

  10. Bruce says:

It sucked watching that game, no doubt. I don’t like the Cowboys but there’s no getting over the superiority of Dallas’ play on the fundamentals. BubbaDave was spot on about the relative offensive lines; I think there’s a far bigger gap between the two teams’ OL’s and their QB’s.

Turns out that short field goal didn’t matter but it should have been made, period.

  11. cswartout says:

Better a Democrat who loves the Redskins than a Republican Cowboy fan!!

    Try being a Dolphin fan.

  12. Jay says:

None of this matters. The Giants are on their way to winning their second Super Bowl in a row.

Washington and Dallas both suck ass.

  13. B.BarNavi says:

Marion Barber: The new Terrell Owens. Get ready to hate him with an intense passion.

But we still can’t blame him for Campbell’s slow game. Even sloths have faster reaction times.

  14. Parthenon says:

Jay, I see you New York fans behave the same way about your football as your baseball. :)

  15. bobh says:

don’t worry the cowboys mister romo will go off to cabo or some other ridiculous vacation spot the week before a game and thoroughly screw it up for all of us dallas fans – jessica is the albatross around our necks – just you watch.

  16. Jaim says:

Titans are undefeated. That blows my mind just a little.

  17. Syco says:

when was the last time that any team repeated in the big 3( NBA NFL MLB)?

    Answer:
    05 NFL
    2000 MLB
    02 NBA
