The Rats Come Out

Randy Scheunemann, a senior foreign policy adviser to John McCain, was fired from the Arizona senator’s campaign last week for what one aide called ‘trashing’ the campaign staff, three senior McCain advisers tell CNN.
One of the aides tells CNN that campaign manager Rick Davis fired Scheunemann after determining that he had been in direct contact with journalists spreading ‘disinformation’ about campaign aides, including Nicolle Wallace and other officials.

actually, duros, as i understand it, nicolle wallace was being unfairly made to take the blame for palin going on her wild shopping spree and being too dumb to handle an interview by herself. this fired guy scheunemann probably thought he was doing the mccain/palin campaign a favor by throwing wallace under the bus, to use republican terminology for a republican act.
but wallace let on to reporters that something was amiss when she said that if she was being thrown under the bus, she supposed she ought to just lie there:

it sounds like wallace was assigned an impossible job — put lipstick on a pitbull and convince people they were looking at a fairy princess. i have some sympathy for her in this mess.
but really it’s sheer delight to watch so many self-interested, dishonest republican natures work against one another.
