Bill Clinton was the best thing that ever happened to Rush’s career. I’m sure they’re not all that upset, although their personas dictate that they have to bleat and squeal about conspiracy theories regarding ACORN and how the GOP needs to nominate a true conservative to win.

  2. [...] “To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of the wingnuts. [...]

  3. Michael says:

I decided that after hearing so many negative attacks during the election I am not listening to them for a couple days to allow the pride I have in our Nation to stay pure. These three will never join America in building a nonpartisan coalition for change.

  4. Tyro says:

Being as confident as I was on election day, one of my big joys was listening to Rush on Tuesday afternoon, being told that he has “spies” telling him that hardly any Democrats were turning out to vote in places like the Upper West Side (”this is Moscow, folks!”), while people in couldn’t possibly be Obama voters were showing up in large numbers in Kansas. Plus his admonitions to his listeners to “don’t believe what you see!” when it came to the news about the big turnout for Obama. I can giggle about that now.

  5. Rush? BillO? This is bigger than them- this is fodder for the Klan, separatists, and skinheads to spout at their mini-rallies and cram their message boards with.

Given the Hispanic population rise, and youth trends, the GOP is gonna have to come better tha Palin if they want to regain power. Huckabee-Jindal in 2012?

  6. Jaime says:

Cant wait to hear what these losers have to say. IN THEIR FACE. HA!

  7. zadig says:

Don’t forget Laura Ingraham is on now, and she’s sounded close to tears a few times, such as when she insisted that even though Obama is calling for service and sacrifice, we’re *already* serving and sacrificing, dammit, and we’re the most generous [sniff] serving [sniff, sniff] people in the world! Which contradicts Obama, um, how exactly?

It’s fun to listen and laugh at her. And I’ll do the same thing with Limbaugh and Hannity, too. Losers.

  8. Sean D. Martin says:

Plus his admonitions to his listeners to “don’t believe what you see!”

Yeah. Typical right-wing. “Who ya gonna believe? Me, our your own lying eyes??”

  9. PG says:

I don’t listen to the radio right wingers, but I’m skipping around National Review Online, and have yet to see anyone there admit that Palin was a stupid pick. Byron York wonders, “Could anything have prevented this defeat?” and basically says, “No,” because Bush was too unpopular and the financial meltdown too catastrophic.

Although it’s as uncertain because it’s a counterfactual, I think McCain could have won if he had picked either Lieberman or a pro-choice, experienced Republican woman (Hutchison, Collins, Snowe) as a running mate. Neither would have been overly identified with Bush’s failures, and either would have drawn in a big voting group: Lieberman would pull independents and conservative/moderate Democrats; a pro-choice, experienced Republican woman would pull women (which is what Palin was supposed to do, but picking her just came off as insulting to women).

I think an experienced fellow senator as a running mate also would have prevented McCain from losing his head in the financial crisis and careening from one ridiculous idea to another. That’s the trouble with trying to drive with a team of mavericks — they’re too unsteady.

Unfortunately, the unwillingness of the folks at NRO to entertain the possibility that Palin was not actually a brilliant choice means that we’re stuck seeing a lot more of her.

And this is a bad thing… how?

    Palin ‘12! Yes!!!

  11. canadian bacon says:

I’m listening to Dumbbaugh and I can’t quite put my finger on it but it goes something like – he sounds like an empty shell waiting to be stuffed. Any ideas?

  12. PD100 says:

    “Any ideas?”

Just a short while until his housekeeper makes a run to replenish his stash.

  13. zadig says:

canadian, he sounds like he’s faking normal, but you can hear the depression washing through everything he says, and everything he says lacked its usual energy. But he’s pretending it doesn’t.

It’s really great to hear. Wish there was a way to depress him more.

  14. Sean D. Martin says:

but you can hear the depression washing through everything he says

Not listening to him myself, but Rush always struck me as being aware that his role is primarily entertainer. Surprised he’d be emotionally invested in his schtick.

  15. fafaroo says:

During my short drive to work this morning I heard:

Limbaugh proclaiming that a majority of people in this country, whether they knew it not, just voted for socialism.

    O’Reilly pushing Palin for 2012.

And Dennis Prager, a local Los Angeles hack, walking back months of fear mongering by suggesting that Obama’s win wasn’t that much of a danger to the country since Bush and the surge has already won the war on terror.

    Sheesh.

  16. zadig says:

Sean, “entertainer” is what Rush calls himself whenever anyone takes his crap seriously and expects him to answer for it. His comments are racist? Relax, he’s just an entertainer. He believes most of what he says, and says the rest because it’s where his bread is buttered – both reasons are wrong on many levels.

He was increasingly frantic in the days leading up to the election (often going off on a shrill “why won’t people realize what I know about how dangerous/evil/leaves the toilet seat up Obama really is?!?!?!?”) and now that his diatribes have been largely ignored, he’s sinking into depression.

He even, just now on his show, referred to last night’s vote as half the nation choosing assisted suicide. If I were someone who cared about Limbaugh (and it’s hard to imagine that there is anyone who does), I’d hide the sleeping pills. Fortunately, I don’t care what happens to him, and am just enjoying seeing his mind snap even further.

  17. canadian bacon says:

“Wish there was a way to depress him more.”

    Let’s work on it.

  18. canadian bacon says:

I just heard a ditto head pretty well sum the intelligence level of Dumbbaugh’s audience.

“Since I new I wasn’t going to vote for him, I never listened to anything he said.” Now that’s what I call an informed decision.

    Dumb and Dumber.

  19. PD100 says:

“If I were someone who cared about Limbaugh (and it’s hard to imagine that there is anyone who does), I’d hide the sleeping pills”

Forget it. I’m just waiting for the day Big Pharma or any of the NRO staff even begin toward that “I swear, I’ll do it!” spiral. Hell, I’ll PayPal them a pack of Lunesta and a fifth of vodka.

  20. cher d'carter says:

i hve never read any material more racist than this bull.
Until today, i had thought race was not a factor in the election.

  21. Mister Steve says:

Listening to hannity… I’ve made it 3 minutes, might make it one minute more. He sounds like he’s ready to explode.

You know, I don’t think a new fairness doctrine is especially a good thing, but it would be interesting to hear what the talking head would turn into if these boneheads were somehow made accountable for what they say.

    “Entertainer” my ass.

  22. Mister Steve says:

Ouch, ouch ouch. I think I listened for too long. My ears are bleeding.

  23. SallyMutant says:

At work; in public I will be gracious. But today, at home taking a vacation day with my ux, and here at LKTS, and on comments at My Other Fave Blog, I’ve gotta

Gloat, gloat, gloat like a baby stoat!!!!!!!!!!

  24. PG says:

And this is a bad thing… how?
    Palin ‘12! Yes!!!

I like having a competent opposition that is capable of arguing ideas and policy, and of holding Democrats’ excesses in (card) check.

Also, quite frankly as a non-Christian person of color, I’m wary of what a charismatic leader like Palin could whip her followers up to do, even if it’s not what she intended.

  25. canadian bacon says:

Maybe just threaten a fairness doctrine for a couple of years just to get their blood pressure way way up and then maybe they’ll explode in a miasma of seething hate. Dangle the threat like a carrot and hear them chomp at the bit.

  26. PG says:

I worry about what Palin inspires:
The Obama campaign was provided with reports from the Secret Service showing a sharp and disturbing increase in threats to Obama in September and early October, at the same time that many crowds at Palin rallies became more frenzied. Michelle Obama was shaken by the vituperative crowds and the hot rhetoric from the GOP candidates. “Why would they try to make people hate us?” Michelle asked a top campaign aide.

I really hope that the GOP runs Gov. Jindal in 2012. Jindal is a social conservative with no regard for bodily privacy nor the 8th Amendment, but he’s very smart and competent and would give Obama a run for his money, without rousing the tribalistic impulses among certain Republicans that Palin does. I don’t worry about Jindal’s rhetoric bringing on an assassination attempt.

  27. Cindy McCain says:

This is a disaster. I’ve already purchased over $1.5M in clothes and jewelry for my inauguration as first lady, and it is nonreturnable. America, how could you do this to me?

  28. canadian bacon says:

I’m listening to Sean Hannibal and he said that Obama is committed to his ideas, and by implication, not his country. Still with the treason theme. Can we send him some hillbilly heroin too?

  29. Duros Hussein 62 says:

“Since I new I wasn’t going to vote for him, I never listened to anything he said.” Now that’s what I call an informed decision.

    Dumb and Dumber.

    Fast forward to April 2009.

“Hey, looka that. I get a $1200 tax refund. How’d that happen?”

  30. PD100 says:

Oh Noes! Too late! Looks like the lesser stars of the wingnut nebula are already going to nova.

Four years of unintentional comedy gold. I love it.
