In the tiniest bit of fairness to the LGF, I spent the years 2004-08 saying Bush wasn’t my President, either.

Two major differences, of course, between me and the LGF.

1) I’d had three-plus years to formulate exactly what it was about Bush that led me to not support him or consider him “my” leader, not two days post-election.

2) When I said Bush wasn’t my President, he more or less said “well, no, I’m not your President either…I’m President of my base.” Obama is going to try to be President of even those who hate him. They may not always get what they want (and hell, neither will we), but he’s going to make an effort to be fair to all Americans.

I waded through some of the comments at Little Green Goofballs the other night. Amazing how many are refusing to call Obamam “my President” and saying he was illegally elected; how ACORN somehow stole 7 fucking million votes.

Like the 2000 election never even happened. For them Irony = “Pressy my shirty.”

Another thing to keep in mind is that this year’s losses for the Republicans come in the wake of a disastrous mid-term election just two years ago. Some might argue that we’ve established a trend.

Oh yeah. Watching the infighting to come in the months ahead will be a three-bagger, popcornwise. I imagine a faction of diehard True Believers will band together and insist that the GOP needs to be even crazier and more rigid than ever to win back the hearts and minds of America.

At the same time, I hope that somewhere there’s a rational faction that realizes that “Terrorists! Illegals!! Faggots! Yarg!! Blarg!!” just doesn’t really resonate with most Americans. If so, maybe the next Presidential campaign won’t be as stupid as this one.

I can’t wait for the coming inplosion of the Republican party. There is supposed to be an election for the new head of the RNC in January. It will be a sign of who they elect if they are serious about reforming. Are they going to elect their version of Howard Dean? Or are they going to elect another wing-nut? I keep hearing the name of Katon Dawson. Yeah, that is the ticket!! Elect a Southern evangelical as the RNC head. They’ll further reduce themselves to a Southern regional party(with Utah and Idaho thrown in).

Special Ed is a genius compared to the idiocy going on at Jay Tea's place. These wingnuts don't stand for anything except fighting someone, and whether they're real, imaginary, or dead for 20 years is completely moot. It's a part of why the Republican/Confederate bond is so natural (that and the distrust of brown people).

Hee hee. So far I think the most hilarious example of pathetic spin along these lines came from Cap'n Ed, who tried to argue that Obama's total vote actually shows that the nation is "apathetic" compared to 2004 -- without realizing that he was comparing complete 2004 totals with as yet incomplete 2008 totals. That threw off his count by, oh, several million votes or so. You'd think that after 2000 even total dopes would realize that all the counting is not done the morning after the election. But then I guess we all can't be special enough to get paid to blog at Hot Air.
