Jay Tea: To assume that the story was bogus from the outset was flying in the face of reality.

But that wasn't what I did but don't let that stop you from, again, insisting on things being as they aren't just so you can fit them into your narrow view.

My actual comment: And poll watchers, assuming they aren’t in violation of any rule/law/ordinance regarding what you can do at or near a polling station, should not be evicted.

See, I was agreeing that evicting poll watchers was wrong. But I didn't express any opinion that the story was bogus. I had my doubts since the story on wizbang only ever referred to "a judge" without giving a name or court which seemed too much like the kinds of unspecific sourcing you see in snopes-disproved emails. But I didn't express that view.

Jay Tea: When this one turned out to be bogus, I freely admitted that my instinctive response was wrong

Gee, I must have missed that. Lemme go back and check. Hmmm.

Toss up Carlos Mantos... lie about "Black Panthers" being present at multiple polling places ...

Oh, was it that part in there where you said "So Philly didn’t kick out the Republican poll watchers this year. It was entirely plausible"? Sandwiched in between re-defining terms to claim things that just aren't true around and bringing up Mantos twice more?

Much more respect for you if (as you have in the past) just said "I got it wrong" without bookending it with distortions and complaints.

Jay Tea: I’ve always based my opposition to Obama on what he has said and done

Nope. Your comments on Obama and coal plants just doesn't pass the sniff test on that one.

Sean, please. You're celebrating too early.

1) The poll watchers story was credible on first blush BECAUSE IT HAPPENED BEFORE, and nothing was done about it. To assume that the story was bogus from the outset was flying in the face of reality.

2) If you recall the Rathergate mess, the catchphrase then was "fake, but accurate." When this one turned out to be bogus, I freely admitted that my instinctive response was wrong -- but, again, I say justifiable.

3) What you call "changing the facts," I call a rhetorical flourish -- using parallel construction to make my points.

4) I've NEVER bought into the "crypto-Muslim" bullshit. I also slammed a lot of people who pushed that one, the "foreign birth" bit, and the "Michelle Obama 'whitey' tape." Don't THINK of tarring me with any of those. I've always based my opposition to Obama on what he has said and done -- and, more often, what he did not say and do.

And before you twist that last one around, I mean his silences and inactions when he SHOULD have been saying and doing things.

Translation: Facts don't matter, just "plausibility". And who could rule out with 100% certaintly that Obama isn't a sleeper-agent Muslin who rushed back to Hawaii to do in his grandmother because she was about to spill the beans about his forged birth certificate and he needed a sympathy vote right before the election to have any chance of winning?

Jay Tea: Abssolutely, Sean. Especially if by _____ you mean _____ and _____ you mean _____ and by _____ you mean _____ .

Or, alternately, if _____ is again _____ and _____ is _____ and _____ translates to _____ .

Or even _____ for _____ , _____ for _____ , and _____ for _____ .

Translated Jay: You're absolutely right as long as I can re- or re-re- or even re-re-re-define your terms for you so that you've said what I want you to say.

Abssolutely, Sean. Especially if by "wolf," you mean "a Democratically-contorlled Congrees," and "sheep," you mean "my 401K plan," and by "eat," you mean "eliminate the tax breaks for the plan and jack up my Social Security taxes."

Or, alternately, if "wolf" is again "Congressional Democrats" and "sheep" is "talk radio" and "eat" translates to "reimposed the 'Fairness Doctrine.'"

Or even "Barack Obama" for "wolf," "the coal industry and electric utilities with coal-fired plants" for "sheep," and "eat" for "bankrupt."

So Philly didn't kick out the Republican poll watchers this year. It was entirely plausible, as they did just that in 2004 and 2006. As I said, go to YouTube and search for Carlos Mantos -- he's on video boasting of how his precinct was "100% Democrat" and therefore the Republican poll watchers had NO BUSINESS there. So apparently they didn't try it this year -- good for them.

I bet Mr. Mantos will be heavily involved in union organizing once the Democrats abolish the right of workers to decide on a union with a secret ballot, though. He's got the credentials for it.

So, first JT complains about a story that isn't true.
Then he complains when the police show up and do their job.

Can't wait to see what he finds to complain about next. A wolf coming to eat his sheep, perhaps?

Dang, looks like Philly's learned its lesson from 2004 and 2006. This time, they've got Black Panthers with clubs hanging out in front of polling places as "security."

THAT one's caught on video -- along with the cops showing up and running them off.

Sean, I hope you're including military ballots, because they have a very disturbing tendency for NOT getting counted... hell, in 2000 the Gore campaign was using "cheat sheets" on how to get 'em disqualified.

And Google up "Carlos Mantos." Or check him on YouTube. That son of a bitch needs to be locked up for a very, very long time...

JT: And it ain’t over until the last legitimate vote is counted!

Well... sometimes it's over before that. :)

And poll watchers, assuming hey aren't in violation of any rule/law/ordinance regarding what you can do at or near a polling station, should not be evicted. Doesn't seem right somehow. Like evicting peaceful demonstrators to "free speech zones"...

Sean:

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! And it ain't over until the last legitimate vote is counted!

I'm waiting for more details from Philadelphia, where it's reported that the GOP poll-watchers are being evicted from the polls... just like in 2004 and 2006.

Once again I am inspired by the civic devotion of my fellow New Hampshirites.

In most places, 100% voter turnout is a fantasy. In Dixville Notch, it is the norm.

And today, they outdid themselves -- 110% voter turnout.

Of the reported 19 registered voters, 21 showed up and cast ballots.

I didn't think ACORN got up that far into the White Mountains...

I saw the story this morning about Dixville Notch. This is exciting news! I live in Boston and spent some time recently campaigning for Obama. There was a lot of McCain support, but we'll see...

Dixville is apparently indicative of nothing, historically speaking. Symbolically encouraging, nonetheless.
