So, when he says “blacks are voting for Obama because of his skin color” and “they stand to gain…from the redistribution of other peoples money”, that’s not racist because, LOL, give him a break.
AO, you might not be able to see it, but others very clearly can.

Before you call me either a liar or a fool, please explain how Obama’s plan to send more money back to some taxpayers than they had paid in federal income taxes is not a “negative income tax.” In your name-calling and one-sentence quote from Friedman, you neglected that little detail.

Also, PLEASE have the GOP adopt your ideas and run against the legacy of the New Deal. (In actuality, the New Deal legislation that is criticized for extending the Depression — antitrust exemptions that permitted wage controls and price fixing and trade protectionism — was ended by the end of WWII.) Please have the GOP say that if elected, they will end the SEC, FDIC and Social Security, programs that outlived the short-term emergency of the Depression. That would be awesome.

Give FDR props for being willing to try but serious students of history credit him with prolonging the Depression not shortening it. His bankrupt ideas helped create modern welfare state. Barack’s socialism reeks of FDR.

Nothing sums up the failure of the Carter Administration better than the hostage crisis. It’s hard to think of a worse US President. We are still paying a high price for Carter’s failure. It is quite conceivable that we could have skipped much of the unpleasantness in the Mid East if Carter had crushed Iran after their acts of war against us. Instead our Muslim enemies were emboldened by our ineffectual weakness.

Your concern about reading material is noted. Might I suggest the previously mentioned “Free to Choose” by Milton Friedman, published by Harcourt Brace Jovanovich. It will give you a grasp of how different economic models actually succeed or fail in the real world. What really happens, not the airbrushed theory.

It is amazing in the country that is supposed to be the “worlds best” that the only reason some people feel that Blacks are voting for Obama is his skin color alone. The truth is that most of the people, black and otherwise, that I know that are voting for Obama because they are sick and tired of the tired rhetoric of the past candidates and presidents who only succeeded in lining their pockets, along with the large corporations, while John Q. Public gets raped repeatedly (Hypothetically).
Now I will give credence to the idea that some blacks are voting for him simply because he is black, but would not that lend credence to, some whites are voting for McCain simply because he is white? and may I ask why is it that blacks supporting a black presidential candidate so wrong in the first place?
I am voting for Obama because I HAVE listened to the facts, not innuendo, but had Hillary won I would have voted for her against McCain. I like a lot of other voters just don’t like his message or manner.
America grow up, we are on the same team. United we stand divided we fall. Checked the United States standing in the world lately? Unity will help get it back on track (ideally).
I am not mad at the whites who are supporting their candidate because of his color, nor am I at the blacks supporting their candidate because of his color. I have learned that a lot of people who would not do the homework on the candidates only have rhetoric and conjecture to go on, so color will be an issue; but please do not discredit those of us who have, and simply have made a choice, even if it is different from yours.
I assume some who read this are voting for McCain; I am not accusing all those people of voting for him because of his color, and I respectfully request they return the favor. Being pro white, or pro black is not necessarily wrong, bigotry and racism are the traits we abhor, dressed in white or black. So to set the record straight, yes I am Black, yes I am educated, and yes I am voting for Obama, but not because of his color but because of what I perceive as his strengths. In closing I would like to ask one simple question, Are the whites who are voting for Obama also voting for him because he is black? absurd? so is assuming that all blacks are voting for Obama because he is black. We don’t always have to agree on everything, we have choices, and I choose to end the hatred now. So go and vote as you will, IT’S AMERICA.

That would be hot if Obama shared many views with good old Uncle Miltie. He does not as you very well know. It is intellectually dishonest of you to try to portray Milton Friedman’s position on a “negative” income tax in that light. You are sir, quite simply put, either a liar or a fool.

Quoting Milton on pg 113 of his book Free to Choose,
“The negative income tax would be a satisfactory reform only if it replaces the host of other specific programs we now have.” I’d be Obama’s biggest fan if he stood for anything that appealed to Friedman.

The taxes referred to in Barack’s socialist scheme are income taxes. Wealthy folks get theirs raised again, most voters get theirs lowered or “rebated”. Many voters without sufficient income get “rebates” on the taxes they never paid. Some of these voters are already receiving public subsidies of one type or another. The common thread here is the increasing size of the welfare state and the way Obama penalizes a minority to gain favor with an ever increasing majority of voters receiving subsidies.

Strowbridge’s thoughts on my alleged racism are brilliantly construed. When a man’s desire is to be treated the same in a Constitutionally neutral he will have my respect as a fellow American. When a man wants to corrode the Constitution and use race as a means to get special treatment I do not consider that an American value.

Better we should spread the wealth around Wall Street, yes? I just heard on NPR that many banks owe almost $40 Billion to executives for salaries and pensions. So the government hand-out to them doesn’t go to shoring up the bank or allowing them to make new loans. It goes right into their pocket.

Those are the people who would see an increase in their tax burden, not you, or most likely anyone who reads this. So in effect, the government loans them the money, they pocket it and pay it back in higher tax rates. That tax revenue funds the middle class tax cuts Obama’s been talking about, effectively giving it back to the taxpayers.

Like I’ve said before economics is better than Ambien for me, but even I can get this.

AO, I’m one of those who stands to benefit from Obama’s tax plan.

I support a family of 5 on about $50,000 a year. I pay sales tax, gasoline taxes, property taxes, an insurance tax (one of the few means our small town has of raising revenue), a school taxes, state income tax, and FICA. And yes, after deductions my federal tax burden is zero.

I’m also willing to bet that I pay a higher percentage of my net income for FICA than most people, considering that that particular tax phases out at $102,000.

I guess 12 years of schooling to get a PhD and working my butt off at a small liberal arts college that goes out of its way to make sure poor kids from Appalachia get a decent education makes me a good for nothing’ welfare queen.

How did that jackass in Florida know the cars were coming from the inner city? From the tone of his email, I would have thought all the blacks there lived on the plantations.
