LOL! Ouch!
I’ve got more bad news for McCain: His foreign policy cred is pretty awful too. You know, what with the Iraq Invasion cheerleading, supporting torture, and what have you.
I like that Palin is such a joke that they don’t even have to say anything about her in the ad, just show a picture of her and people watching are going to be like “yeah, that was an awful pick” on their own.
It’s about time the O camp went after Palin.
The best ads have been using their own words and actions against McCain/Palin. Another great ad like the ad after the debate linking McCain to Bush by his own words.
OH SNAP!
Listen to the music bed. It’s based on a heartbeat rhythm, and it skips a beat when Palin’s pic pop’s up. Very subtle messaging…
It seems like this campaign has struck the right balance of positive message/negative contrast, while the McCain campaign is trapped in negative smear land. They can’t close negative and expect to win, it never happens. They have to pivot to a positive message, but they’ve got nothin’.
This should make good fodder for an Obama ad on his tax plan: the guys at the American Enterprise Institute — possibly the most conservative think tank on economic issues — admit that conservatives have been lying about Obama’s plan.

Some useful quotes –
“For those making less than roughly $200,000 ($250,000 for couples), Obama would not only make President Bush’s tax cuts permanent but would also offer an array of new tax credits. Nobody should deny this. … they would put more money in the pockets of some American families.
“These tax increases [for the wealthy] fall well short of what some of his conservative critics claim. For example, Obama does not propose to tax dividends at 40 percent or to impose the full 12.4 percent Social Security tax on high earners.
“Obama may very well give Joe the Plumber a tax break… Obama is offering real tax favors for the middle class.”
Of course, the rest of the op-ed is about why middle class tax relief isn’t as good as upper class tax relief, but it’s still telling that three prominent conservatives are willing to say that other conservatives are lying about Obama’s tax plan.
McCain did it all for the secessionist nookie
They have to pivot to a positive message, but they’ve got nothin’.
In six days? I don’t think they could ramp it back in so short a time. I mean, they would have to come up with something positive about McCain/Palin first.
Whenever I play a video from your site, firefox crashes when I try to navigate away. Every time.
OT question:
I’m trying to figure out how to watch Obama’s Power Half-Hour tonight here in the UK.
Is the ‘Fox’ that is showing it, ‘Fox News’ or is there another channel just called ‘Fox’ ? I really don’t understand the American TV system.
Yeah, there’s the Fox Network, but it is probably Fox News that’s showing it. Are we sure it’s not on the BBC?
Jake @10:39 am just explained why they waited.
Yeah, they’re not criticizing her directly, and it’s actually more effective because of that. People know how bad she really is (well, the people outside of the hardcore right wing). This just brings it home.
It works nicely with just the words on screen and the silent image of Palin.
But it would have been fun to have the Palin clip at least with sound. Words come onscreen “His choice?” followed by Palin winking and saying “You betcha!”
People know how bad she really is
You’re right. Every time she appears in public, the American audience turns away in disgust.
They just can’t stand her!
That’s a good point Farris. You can’t fool all of the people all of the time.
Great ad. These people are earning their paychecks.
SaveFerris links to two articles. The first is about where, despite it being her best performance to date, she lost the debate to Biden. The second is about when she was publicly ridiculed and lots of people watched.
Good Save there, Ferris.
SaveFarris the Plumber: “You’re right. Every time she appears in public, the American audience turns away in disgust.”
“They just can’t stand her!”
Have you seen her poll numbers?
Farris, you’re adorable.
Sorry, I forgot the first rule around here: IOKIYAAD.
Data showing Obama drawing big crowds: Proof positive he’s gonna win next week.
Data showing Palin drawing big crowds: Irrelevant fluff that matters not a whit (and probably racist!)
My apologies for the mistake.
You’re right. I hereby change your screen name to “SaveFarris the Victim.”
uh, Farris, lots of people watch NASCAR just for the car crashes, that’s pretty much what she’s become. Maybe those few of your ilk see starbursts, but polls suggest you’re in the distinct minority.
I swear it’s a WATB infestation lately.
I tuned in to the Palin-Biden debate, ergo I must love Palin, right? Jesus. I dunno why you guys are so dumb on purpose.
SaveFarris: “Sorry, I forgot the first rule around here: IOKIYAAD.”
No, the rule is you have to look at the evidence. All of it. Obama can draw big crowds AND has great polling.
The same can’t be said of Palin.
“My apologies for the mistake.”
I don’t want your apologies. I want you to smart up or shut up.
Bruce Henry: “You’re right. I hereby change your screen name to ‘SaveFarris the Victim.’”
When I first say he added “The Plumber” at the end of his name, I thought it was a troll pretending to be him.
Speaking of Joe the Plumber, it’s odd that the conservative bloggers who react to any liberal protest or activism with “Jeez, don’t these people have jobs?” aren’t wondering how Joe is going to make enough money to buy a business if he’s spending his weekdays stumping with Palin. Or has he gone on the McCain campaign payroll along with the makeup artist from “Dancing with the Stars”?
For a second there, I thought you wrote “schtupping with Palin.”
Oh, wait, here’s the next thing: he’s now Joe the Celebrity, complete with a management deal. Pathfinder Management will be representing him. His new spokesman (one of three) says, “Joe the Plumber is fast becoming a brand. He is a dynamic speaker and an everyman who has become an overnight celebrity. It’s going to be our job to find Joe’s strengths and give him some options. … It wouldn’t be far afield to have Joe be the spokesperson for Home Depot, for example, representing the shoulder-to-the-wheel working stiff. He really isn’t selling out in any way, shape or form. We just want to see where he can have a positive impact.”
For a second there, I thought you wrote “schtupping with Palin.”
I wouldn’t rule it out.
His new spokesman (one of three) says, “Joe the Plumber is fast becoming a brand.
Well, that’s just fucking great. One more attention whore I have to ignore.
Whoa, sorry about the rhyming.
