I love that they say this without it occurring to them that maybe people worry about sounding intolerant because it IS intolerant. I'm glad that there's at least that little trace of decency, that "tribute that vice pays to virtue," as Chesterton defined hypocrisy, where people are ashamed to admit that they are voting based on racism or heterosexism. (If you're not voting based on something you're ashamed of, why lie about your vote? I have done political polling; we don't know where you live or where you work or anything else except your phone number and whether you're registered Democrat or Republican.)
