Conservatives are highlighting this recent statement from SNL creator/producer Lorne Michaels:
I think Palin will continue to be underestimated for a while. I watched the way she connected with people, and she’s powerful. Her politics aren’t my politics. But you can see that she’s a very powerful, very disciplined, incredibly gracious woman. This was her first time out and she’s had a huge impact. People connect to her. . . . I think she could have her own show, yeah.
Let’s remember in addition to some outright success, Michaels was also the producer behind movies like
* The Ladies Man
* Superstar
* A Night At The Roxbury
* Coneheads
* Stuart Saves His Family
So lets not give him the Dionne Warwick Psychic Friends Seer Of The Year award just yet.

oh c’mon, oliver
he said she could maybe haver her own show. do you disagree with that?
i mean huckabee’s got a show, right? scarborough’s got a show. pee wee had a show. personally, i’d love to see palin get her own show. be a a helluva lot better she had a show than an office.
He’s only saying that because they’re both white.
If having her own show means she won’t be near national policy, I’m all for it!
She can sing and dance and interview people without doing any research.
Maybe I’m unsophisticated but I thought Coneheads was funny.
Connecting with people is a prerequisite to being good in politics. Look at Obama’s success and McCain’s failure. I would take Lorne’s observations as a warning.
She HAS had a huge impact. I don’t think there’s any denying that. She has been largely responsible for cratering McCain’s campaign.
She could get herself a jacket covered in dollar signs and have an infomercial selling books about living on the state of Alaska’s dime. $10,000 for airplane tickets! A nice per diem for staying in your own home! Act now and also get Sarah Palin’s “secrets of the $150,000 GOP- funded wardrobe! Act now.
Lorne is just agreeing with Arianna Huffington. On Larry King she opined that Sarah has a great future in entertainment, “on a talk show, for example.” I’m with Arianna. Put her opposite Rachel Ray.
Possible program name: The View from the Bridge to Nowhere
Don’t forget that Dr. Evil was essentially Mike Myers’s Lorne Michaels impression.

Isn’t Lorne’s point that she’ll get her own show, because she sure isn’t going to be VP?
McCain agrees with Murtha in Moon, PA
I liked Stuart Saves His Family. Of course I saw it late on a Friday night on BBC2, but that’s its natural habitat.
Anyway yeah the best SNL films have been the ones where he hasn’t been involved.
I thought she looked familiar.
Hey – The Ladies Man made a find rental. How can you speak ill of a movie that has a half-nekkid Tiffani Amber Thiessen?
Besides, Michaels is in show business, they’re supposed to kiss up.
Hmm, I bet you that collectively those movies, as bad as they were, made money. Lorne Michaels is in the business of making money, not making art.
Bruce, I liked coneheads too.
“No one ever lost money by underestimating…yatta yatta.”
Night at the Roxbury wasn’t a hit? That movie is a classic. Hitting on the Maid of Honor at the alter of your own wedding will never grow old.
In any case, if you run a show, you generally say nice things about your guests unless you can be sure of destroying them.
Lorne Michaels has given the max, $2,300, to John McCain. Just sayin’.
