“The Real Virginia” Becomes An Anchor

The “real Virginia” crack is leading the local news here. Not good for McCain at all. It’s like the Clinton campaign’s refrain about which states did and didn’t count but far far worse. Virginia was already leaning Obama, this may lock it in.

WUSA Channel 9’s (the CBS affiliate) open to the 11PM news: “If you’re watching this in Northern Virginia, you may not be in the ‘real’ Virginia according to the McCain campaign”

Ha, serves them right. I hope the people of Northern Virginia take note. Maybe I will head over there to volunteer tomorrow.

What’s weird is that the McCain-drone likened “real” Americans to being “you know, Southerners” or something like that. If anything O-dub, I’m surprised you aren’t making the racial connection here as well. It was a classic dog-whistle moment.

I hate to have to break it to these clowns, but Obama drew a sizeable, very enthusiastic crowd Friday in Roanoke.

I live within driving distance of there and the yard signs I’ve seen in town here are running around 20-10 in Obama’s favor.

    Jaim,

I don’t think the majority of black voters in Virginia are in Northern Virginia. They’re more concentrated in the Newport News and Richmond areas. Not sure what the dog whistle about being a southerner would be. Richmond’s pretty damn southern — it was capital of the Confederacy.

Kerry Virginia (Iowa, Colorado, or New Mexico) = Obama win.

So let’s get crackin’! Find an Obama office and help get out the vote.

I think that the woman who made that idiot remark had better remember George Allen’s “foot in mouth disease” remark of the same vain and why he’s NO LONGER senator.
