Conservative talk show host Michael Smerconish has endorsed Obama.

This is just getting weird.

I have a hard time believing that a Con can be honest.
Something STRANGE is going on here!

  2. Nimrod Gently says:

    That’s not a name. That’s a sneeze.

Besides, Bill Buckley’s son did the same thing, and that’s even more shocking.

  3. Grumpymann says:

It just worries me that all these Cons are acting like they have a brain all of a sudden.

I wonder if they are trying to position them selves differently so when the rethugs get their shit together they are right at the front of the pack to blow the pipe again?

Or are they genuinely trying to purge the hatters and idiots?

After YEARS of flinging shit, hate, and stoopid. I really doubt that they have seen the light.

Whenever this cat filled in for O’Reilly and he spoke highly of Sen. Obama, I always just thought it was just typical O’Reilly-style ‘pretend I’m honest and fair’ type stuff. I guess he was legit. I wonder if Bill will have him sub for him still.

    fixed.

    Rats. Sinking ship.

I think Smerconish and the rest want to be able to say in a few years, “Hey, I’m not one of those crazy old guard Republicans.”

    Good thought.

Maybe he sees the writing on the wall for McCain and is setting himself up to say, “Well, I was willing to give the Democrat a chance, but….” about 11 minutes after Obama takes the oath.

Since I live in the Philly radio market, this surprises me alot. I believe your guess is correct. Don’t forget, Smerconish has also sat in for Glenn Beck on Headline News.

I listened today and Smerconish was subbing for Bill. I’ve heard him many times and he always struck me as an independent type thinker. Sometimes I think that all these right wingers who are switching sides are seeking atonement for past wrongs. We should let them; but keep a close eye. It wouldn’t surprise me if O’Reilly does the same. Dumbbaugh I doubt.

Exactly. The choice was just as clear in 2000 and 2004 (for heaven’s sake, look at the debate footage). Sarah Palin is Bush sans royal bloodlines. McCain is Bush had he gone to Vietnam. I’ll take Smerconish’s vote and endorsement, but he has a lot of atoning to attend to.

It’s pretty obvious that the GOP is deeply fractured. It will probably stay that way for a long time. I’m not too sure about the inner workings of party politics but Palin was a forced picked. That choice pissed many thinking conservatives off. They’re jumping ship. Listening to Dumbbaugh and Sean Hannibal you could hear the panic in their voices – the “Christians” are being left behind. Palin could become their next bobble head. She does have nice hair after all and speaks in forked tongues.
