Clearly, that’s why he’s running for president.

This is your modern Republican party.

I really, really don’t like Chris Matthews, but I gotta give him his due for that segment. That was nicely done.

  2. Grumpymann says:

The simplistic nature of this conversation is the problem with Cons and rethgugs.

  3. chris says:

    what a fucking asshole. unbelievable.

  4. Duros Hussein 62 says:

God, what a toolette. I counted 7 misrepresentations by 1:38. She is 98.8% full of shit.

  5. Leota2 says:

This idiot would have been a smarmy sidekick of McCarthy and Cohn . . . .

Actually, yeah. Check out National Review Online (the higher-IQ alternative to Free Republic), where they’ve fully bought into an elaborate theory that Obama is a socialist who will put on a cover of moderate liberalism only to destroy capitalism and democracy once he gets into office. Admittedly, NRO isn’t sufficiently high-IQ to understand that Maoism does not actually vary from other forms of communism with regard to the preference for revolution over gradualism.* But they have worked out a pretty amazing set of beliefs about how Ayers met Obama while the latter was in college, and the two of them are now working on creating the revolution from within The System.

In this theory, Ayers’s encouragement of having children think critically about the prevailing American political and economic attitudes is an attempt to overthrow the government without the threat of blowing oneself up with a nail bomb. Therefore his becoming a school reformer isn’t an improvement at all and by working with Ayers for education and poverty reduction, Obama actually was furthering an anti-American agenda (where “anti-American” = “teaching kids that imperialism is not good”).

Seriously, if you read NRO you can get all the conservative craziness you would from Free Republic, with much better spelling, grammar and at least a GED-level of knowledge. I highly recommend it as a way to keep track of what ridiculous things conservatives think without losing all of your respect for 40% of your fellow Americans.

    * Now that China has gone fairly capitalist in its economics while remaining totalitarian in government, the remnants of Maoism are found in groups like the Naxalites, who still propound the old Maoist ideas of land redistribution and distrust for industrialization — a major difference between Maoism and Stalinism was Mao’s focus on rural China and Stalin’s obsession with five-year plans for factories. The Naxalites don’t try to win elections; they are trying to start a revolution and they will kidnap and kill to do it. Marx actually despised economic liberalism because he feared that it would pacify workers into accepting capitalism so long as it had a safety net.

    I saw this somewhere,

You can be a good republican or a good American but not both.

  8. juhar says:

How many twin cousins does Elisabeth Hasselbeck of THE VIEW have.

I have seen very intelligent and competent Republican women spokesperson, why aren’t any of them in the McCain camp.

We should have looked closer at McCain’s Obama Celebrity Ad that featured Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. Now to match his trophy wife Cindy his trophy running mate Governor Sarah Palin and these cloned scary women surrogates.

McCain and Sarah are scaring the Hell out of poor Diddy. I think there will be more of the same but bigger to come in the last 18 days.

  9. TroyJMorris says:

So… if you don’t agree with the Right, you’re anti-American?

I could have sworn disagreement for beliefs were the most American attributes.

Well, we better re-evaluate who’s on our money and Mt. Rushmore.

  10. TroyJMorris says:

And didn’t Palin, after becoming Governor or “that other State” send a video address to the Independant Alaska Group? or whatever that Anti-American separation group is called.

  11. Mia says:

Literally, the most frightening thing I’ve EVER seen in my entire lifetime! Are we witnessing a new era of McCarthyism? She actually referred to liberals as “anti-American” and called for an investigation of Congress to search for and root out anti-American elected officials.

Add this to Sarah Palin’s incendiary comments that Obama “pals around with terrorists” and the McCain Campaign’s new robo calls claiming that Obama “worked closely” with a terrorist whose radical group “killed Americans” and you have a recipe for the next great American witch hunt and a call to violence against Obama and his fellow Democrats.

This is very dangerous rhetoric coming out of the Republican Party!!! Every American should study McCarthyism, read the Crucible, and send $$$$$$ to Bachman’s opponent (Tinklenberg) as soon as possible.

Seriously, do it now! I just sent $10. Anyone can afford 5 or 10 bucks!!!

  12. [...] Chris Matthews corners Michele Bachman on her facile association between “liberal” and “anti-American.” Truly, she has nothing to contribute to solving the challenges facing our nation. Hat tip to Oliver Willis. [...]

  13. ed says:

What? No two-bit trolls to defend this shit-weasel, one of their spokespeople?

  14. ed says:

…and you say she’s a Republican. Huh. Who’da thunk it?

  15. SuzyQ says:

She is McCarthy personified. She is an insult to the good people of Minnesota that she represents. Does Minnesota want another four years of this crazy and ignorant moron? If she wants to find out who is anti-American, she should start with Sarah Palin and her husband who have close ties with the AIP, the Alaskan secessionist movement.

I am mailing my absentee ballot right away tomorrow. I am voting for Obama/Biden before she and other people like her infect this country.

  16. Duros Hussein62 says:

Rachel Maddow said tonight Bachmann’s opponent picked up $30,000 in donations today since this aired!

  17. jr says:

    “white race first”-Michele Bachman

  18. Mylegacy says:

Over at Daily Kos tonight they’ve raised over $75,000 for her opponent in Minnesota.

Throw her an anvil – who’s next!

  19. daniel rotter says:

“Rachel Maddow said tonight Bachmann’s opponent picked up $30,000 in donations today…”

That’s good news, but let’s not get our hopes up. I read on the comments section of another blog that she represents Minnesota’s most Republican congressional district.

  20. Bruce Henry says:

“What, no two-bit trolls to defend this shit-weasel, one of their spokespeople?”
Actually, Rep. Bachman posts here quite regularly. Her nom de guerre is jmccann.

  21. Chris says:

Over at ActBlue, Tinklenberg’s total fundraising is now over $132,000 — it was at $13,000 when I donated last night.

  22. Duros Hussein62 says:

I hope Tinklenberg sends her a thank you note.

  23. Denise Oliver says:

Wow. Can you believe that she is a Representative? How did she ever get elected? I hope people take notice of this wacky person and realize we have got to stop these crazy nuts from running our country.

  24. Georgie says:

Bachmann, you are a horred of a human being.. Get out.
