No kid as young as this should be forced to lie as big as this. If he’s this cynical one year out of Duke, what’s he going to be like after 15 years at his daddy’s company?
“We’ve had no associations with any lobbyists on our campaign.”
At least the interviewer questions him on that. I just wished he’d kept it up after the spokesman immediately switched the subject.
When presented with something that is just blatantly not true it isn’t a violation of journalistic ethics and even handedness to call someone on it when they lie or are grossly uninformed about what they are talking about. To stop and say “McCain has ____ and ___ and ____ working on his campaign. It’s well documented that his campaign staff includes literally dozens of lobbyists. So what you just said about having no associations with any lobbyists just isn’t true, is it?”
It’s like the liberal war on gun violence by going after the guns, while arguing against harsh penalties for the actual perpetrators of violent crime.
It’s like going after drug dealers, who are just meeting an economic demand.
It’s like going after prostitutes, while ignoring the pimps and customers.
The real corrupting influences are those who hire and pay and direct the lobbyists, and the politicians who let themselves be bought and sold so cheaply.
I find the thought that McCain might have one or two or a dozen or a thousand currently-inactive lobbyists far less troubling, ethically, than Obama steering a million-dollar earmark to his wife’s employer right after that employer more than doubles her pay or Biden steering millions in earmarks to the clients of his lobbyist son.
And if the faux outrage here is about “the lying,” then I eagerly await Oliver’s explanation for the “continually evolving” rewriting of Obama’s history with ACORN, his history with William Ayers, his history with Tony Rezko… I’ve lost track of which of those have geen “rendered inoperative” or “overtaken by events.”
“then I eagerly await Oliver’sWizwank’s explanation for the “continually evolving” clown car stupidity regarding rewriting of Obama’s McCain/Palin’s history with ACORN, the National Endowment for Democracy, Nicaraguan Contras, Thomas Muthee, Alaskan Independence Party, his history with William Ayers, Gordon Liddy, his history with Tony Rezko Charles Keating…
Obama steering a million-dollar earmark to his wife’s employer right after that employer more than doubles her pay
Still hoping nobody will notice you’re not even telling half the story here, Mr. Tea?
Who was “his wife’s employer” at the time? Whatever happened with that million-dollar earmark? Did Ms. Obama’s job duties change along with her salary? Has she proven worthy of the changes?
McCainiacs have a betting pool on who can tell the biggest lie in front of tv cameras and radio mics
Wow… he’s a great speaker! Right up there with Governor Palin.
What jr said.

Rinse and repeat.
86 times.
Exactly.
I never got the hysteria over “lobbyists.”
They’re just mercenaries.

Or don’t you care?
I never got the hysteria over “lobbyists.”
Well, you might ask your candidate. He’s the one who opened this tin o’ wigglers.
Or maybe you’d prefer to offer up a little evidence to support this:
Can’t you back up anything you write?
I never got the hysteria over earmarks.
