Obama leads McCain by 53-39 in the latest CBS/New York Times poll.
After several weeks in which the McCain campaign unleashed a series of harsh political attacks on Mr. Obama, trying to tie him to a former 1960s radical, among other things, the poll found that voters see Mr. McCain as waging a more negative campaign than Mr. Obama. Six in 10 of those surveyed said that Mr. McCain had spent more time attacking Mr. Obama than explaining what he would do as president; by the same margin voters said Mr. Obama was spending more of his time explaining than attacking.
I honestly believe the race is more like a 50-45 affair, but I’d rather be wrong and have this poll be right. We’ll see.

Obama by 14?
Even I gotta say that sounds wrong.
All I can do is knock on wood…
Quaker in a Basement:
Why? Go along with it and we can ask why McCain is tanking. Put the pressure on McPalin. Besides, if we pump that poll up, it should just make McPalin even more pissed. What could be more fun than seeing McCain blow a gasket tomorrow night. You know he’s got to be mumbling to himself right before bed at night. After all, McCain feels he is entitled to be President.

YESSSS! The wonderful THIRTYSOMETHINGS. Even if the poll’s a tad off, it has great psychological propaganda value. More rats will be jumping ship. More “undecideds” who confuse an election with a popularity contest will follow the herd.
I’d rather they know why it’s in their interest to vote for the Democrat, but if they’re really hopelessly vacant between the ears, I say let them vote out of conformity. They’ll be right anyway.

Can Drudge link to his brain or is he having trouble with that too?
“‘I’m having computer trouble and can’t link to this poll’-Matt Drudge”
Did he seriously say that? If so, it’s a fucking lie.
If he can type that post, he can link to the poll.
That’s just JR’s rhetorical style, CSS. I’m pretty sure dude writes these one-liners on a palmtop – either way I’m hoping to get a book of them post-election.
Never mind that Drudge actually DOES link to this poll (“CBSNYT POLL: ‘OBAMA HAS 14-POINT LEAD’…”)
jr: FAIL!
In my opinion, jr is a comedy genius, one of the main reasons I love this blog.
Well, maybe “genius is too strong a word, but that mother is funny.
“genius” close quotes, Bruce, you idiot.
