‘I voted for Bush, father and son, but this time I’ll vote for Obama,’ he told journalists at the opening of a show on his life and work at the Paris cinematheque.

‘I was the first person in my family to have been Republican,’ he added. ‘For most of my life I wasn’t on the left.’

‘I pray God, Barack Obama is elected,’ he said, criticising the current administration’s many ‘lies.’

    True story: I once knew a guy who thought “Blue Velvet” was a sequel to “National Velvet.” He rented it at the video store for an evening with his in-laws.

    He shut it down when Hopper started hitting the nitrous oxide tank and muttering “I’ll f**k anything that moves!”

    There’s really a very simple explanation for this…

    Hopper has seen the execrable box office returns for “An American Carol”, and has seen the light. This his his plea to the all-powerful liberal cabal that runs Hollywood for future work. Obviously if the evil liberals could somehow force all of America not to go to such a scintillatingly brilliant and innovative laugh-a-palooza, after hiding the film in a paltry insignificant 1600 theaters nationwide, it’s obvious that Hollyweird conservatives can’t beat them, so they might as well join them.

    Rheinhard, haven’t you heard about the vast left-wing conspiracy — right down to the minimum wage high schoolers staffing the ticket booth — to undercount the number of people going to see An American Carol, to prevent them from knowing the movie is playing at a theater, and to keep the movie from being reviewed in newspapers on the day it opens? (Oh, wait, that last one was something the film’s producers did.)

    Hopper always struck me as a rebel. The kind of rebel that would do something different just to piss people off. He’s friends with people like Neil Young(who is a rebel in his own right). I know Neil Young would, in his own views, be considered a DFH(I imagine Hopper is the same way). Neil Young said some nice things about Ray-gun, but it didn’t have much to do with politics.

    Which, of course, is bull****. He got rich. No crime there, Dennis, but man up and just be honest. Admit that nothing else matters as long as you don’t have to pay taxes. Honesty. Is that too much to ask from someone who enjoys standing on a soapbox built with moviegoers’ money. I mean, if this country is half liberal and half conservative, why make a point of sh****g all over the half you formerly belonged to? Just pull the lever for Bush 43 (great judgment there, Dennis!), and go home and count your money.

    Obama can carry California without Hopper’s vote. I’d rather see his ass beaten in a bar-fight.
