See what happens when she doesn’t have talking points or a cheat sheet? This.

‘They are also building schools for the Afghan children so that there is hope and opportunity in our neighboring country of Afghanistan,’ she told several hundred supporters at a fundraising event in San Francisco.

it’s shameful that this woman is even an issue. I know they’ll never admit it but this woman potentially becoming prez of the usa has got to be a scary thought for even the most right winged dingbat

  2. Bruce says:

In fairness, she probably thought she was in Alaska, which is next to Russia, so close that they’re like one country? And since Russia once, like, dominated Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, and THEY border Afghanistan, we’re neighbors. Q.E.D.?

  3. Frank DiSalle says:

    Neighnoring?

Let he who is without sin, etc .

    Heh.

Because O-dub is running for vice president, AMIRITE?

Look, she’s a ding-bat. Republicans clearly don’t care about competence and knowledge, since those are librul values, but a good portion of Americans do. It’s not “elitist” to want educated, smart people running our government, it’s common sense.

But Republicans have none of that.

As while Obama has less experience than might make some people happy, you know he’s going to hire the right people for the right positions. McCain really think Americans are comfortable with Palin being one heart beat away. Bush II made hiring based on how loyal they were. Look where that got us in Iraq (Rumsfeld, Bremer), New Orleans (Brownie) and the economy (too long to list, but everyone he put in a position of power to monitor the economy has been an abject failure).

If you want a healthy economy, foreign policy, and a balanced budget like we had in the 90′s, vote Obama. Want more war, fewer jobs, and no rise in real wages? Vote McSame.

  5. Dennis says:

Biden’s gaffes get zero coverage here. At least not since he had the gall to run against one Barack Obama for President, when he was called ‘A farkin’ idiot’.

‘Barack Obama is not to be effed with’.

Sorry you’re unable to tell the difference between an occasional misstatement, and someone throughly unqualified for the job they’re applying for.

No apologies necessary, michael. I’m well aware of who just who it is that is not qualified for the job he’s applying for. It is the one thing Joe Biden said about Barack Obama that was not a gaffe, but the truth.

Actually he said it twice, and with no uncertainties.

  9. SaveFarris says:

Well for goodness sakes: with 57 states, you’d think at least ONE of them would border Afghanistan!

  10. Nimrod Gently says:

Sneer any harder and your entire face will break in two.

  11. michael says:

What can I say? Opinions change. Facts change. Stupidity is forever. Go ahead and tell yourself that Sarah Palin is qualified.

  12. ed says:

What’s most surprising about Governor Palin’s confusion about Afghanistan’s geography is that there was quite recently a lenghty series about Afghanistan’s role with its neighbors in Le Monde. She presumably read all of that, right?

  13. Dennis says:

Go ahead and tell yourself that Sarah Palin is qualified.

She’s qualified to be VP. You keep telling yourself Obama is qualified to be President because of nothing else but his good judgment.

The one thing he can claim to have had executive experience from, the Woods Foundation, he chooses not to talk about. And his supporters don’t want to hear about it, either.

  14. Nimrod Gently says:

She’s not running for VP. She’s running for 45.

  15. ed says:

    She’s qualified to be VP.

Keep saying that to yourself. It must be comforting. She couldn’t find her ass with a funnel.

  16. michael says:

Dennis, is experience your only qualification for President? For example, if McCain were running against, say, Jimmy Carter, would you choose the one of the two who’s actually served as President?

michael, Joe Biden was called a ‘farkin’ idiot’ here not that long ago. Now all of a sudden he is a hero. I have a hard time following the liberal line so I’m not sure how to answer your question. Joe Biden’s experience and substance is what you folks value when up against the less experience candidate who more than held her own against him in the debate. When the far less experienced Obama goes up against the experienced and substantive John McCain, it is Obama’s judgment you value. When Obama’s judgment is questioned by the company he chose to keep, it is a distraction.

Jimmy Carter failed at his job, so no, I would not vote for him. I don’t know what Obama has done prior to winning the nomination that he has been successful at. Maybe you could tell me.

  18. They are our neighboring country. From Governor Palin’s house, she can not only see Afghanistan (isn’t that part of, like, Russia and stuff), but she has knit an afghan.

On those grounds, she qualifies to be veep (you betcha).

  19. Nimrod Gently says:

Why should I do your legwork for you, Dennis? Just because you’re expending so much energy on deliberate ignorance, that’s not my problem.

  20. Dennis says:

I didn’t ask you to do anything, Nimrod.

  21. Nimrod Gently says:

    “Maybe you could tell me.”

I took that as an expansive “you” since it was on a public blog.

Oh, sure, you betcha. In French, too! And, also, too, they got some great recipes in there.

  23. Parthenon says:

Slightly OT — in this week’s Newsweek Fareed Zakaria takes the GOP ticket (and specifically Gov. Palin’s presence on it) out behind the woodshed. Didn’t he used to be on their side?

  24. Kevin says:

Why are liberals so insulting? Right wing nuts? Give me a break. Had democrats come out to vote, Bush would have never won a 2nd term. It’s your fault.

Now, Dems are coming out to vote in record numbers. Gee… they finally figured out how to put one of their own in office. Get in the car, don’t be lazy, and vote.

Oh, and Obamas plan does not balance the budget to that one guys post, and Obama has admitted the deficit will grow under his plan.

Get educated. Read Obama’s plan. It’s on his website. Stop talking foolishly and un-educated.
