   Even better is her answer for the best thing Cheney has done: Bush has met with soldiers’ families.

   Does she actually know anything? I’m still waiting for evidence.

   What she didn’t get was that, having had an accident and hunt sportsman could have had, he then went on to conceal and finesse the story. It made him look like a shifty character. She may have been right, but not for the reasons she gave IMO

   Also, Palin says it was “kind of unfortunate” that it was made into a caricature of Cheney. I think it’s even more unfortunate that through his own carelessness, Cheney put an old man, over 80, in the hospital for several days.

   This woman is so far removed from where she needs to be in
   the political equation I think we’re being punk’d. She’s such an embarrassment I don’t know whether to mute when I see her face or turn the volume up louder to desensitize myself against the jabber.

   Oh, come on now, lighten up, Francis. “Dick Cheney got drunk and shot an old man in the face” was fucking hilarious when it happened and it’s still funny years later. Now, getting drunk and then accidentally shooting someone and then using political power to thwart any investigation is pretty shitty, to be sure (yet hardly the worst thing Cheney’s ever done). But “Dick Cheney shot and old man in the face” (even without the “got drunk” part) is so motherfucking funny I can’t stand it. And Dick Whittington probably doesn’t find it so funny, but then again, that old man apologized for getting shot in the face. That’s funny. And I know funny.

   What’s the worst thing Dick Cheney ever did as Vice President? Tough call. The torture’s pretty awful. Sending young soldiers off to an entirely unnecessary war which was demonstrably unnecessary before it happened and sold on a series of outright lies is also on the short list. But it’s still probably a long short list. The guy’s a fucking horrible human being and seems to take sick joy in being so.

    The thing I don’t get about Palin is that she used to be a sportscaster once upon a time. She can read a teleprompter well but not much else.
