John McCain is pulling out of Michigan, according to two Republicans, a stunning move a month away from Election Day that indicates the difficulty Republicans are having in finding blue states to put in play.
McCain will go off TV in Michigan, stop dropping mail there and send most of his staff to more competitive states, including Wisconsin, Ohio and Florida. Wisconsin went for Kerry in 2004, Ohio and Florida for Bush.
McCain’s campaign didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
Bet his supporters wish he had picked Mittens over Lady Barracuda…

A frustrated Michigan could not be reached for comment.
Wisconsin went for Kerry in 2004, Ohio and Florida “for Bush.”
Fixed.
You mean the state Hillary says she whupped Obama in within his own party? Sheesh!
Oliver, that’s SARAHCUDA to you sir!
The “Romney is from Michigan” theme is absolutely a PR concoction and nothing else.
I’m from Michgan and have literally thousands of relatives in the state, and the only one who identified Romney with Michigan was my grandmother who has been dead for a decade and would guess you were talking about his dad.
Romney is not a Michigander. Period.
hA-Ha!!
I wonder when he will be pulling out of PA.
Ouch.
Yay! Fewer political ads on television!
If I had to see one more commercial blaming Obama for the bad Michigan economy, I think I would put a brick through my tv.
