60

In all likelihood, the Democrats will not hit 60 votes in the Senate (but come damn close, including possibly Liddy Dole’s seat). But if Sen. Obama wins, I don’t think they’ll really need to get all that way. Democrats will be at historical highs in the House and Senate, with a Democratic president. The country will have sent a serious message about a change in direction that is far stronger than the “capital” Bush spent in 2004-5. There will be enough Republican senators hanging on that they’ll know better than to stand in the way filibustering the agenda.
Zogby + Drudge: Match Made In Heaven

Seriously, why would anyone take either of those “news” sources seriously?
>> That Zogby Poll
>> John Zogby
>> Drudge, Lowry revived falsehood that Obama didn’t vote to condemn MoveOn Petraeus ad
>> Drudge highlighted Financial Times quote echoing false rumor about Obama’s religion
But the Freepers and the gang at Hot Air are positively giddy. Coming down from a high really hurts. Three days to go. Expect lots of all-caps.
GOP Bigot Eruption: Saxby Chambliss
Tweet
Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss, currently neck and neck for re-election says that blacks going to the poll will energize “our side” and that “the other folks” are voting.
This election could very well be GOP racism’s last stand.
CHAAAAAAARGE!
Republicans: Stop Voting

The republicans are quite upset that voting hours have been extended in North Carolina. Yet again, the right recoils from democracy.
They Will Believe Anything, Continued

This ludicrous bit is now floating around the con blogosphere and Free Republic:
Here is what he ["Carl from Ohio"] says the GOP internal state by state polling is showing for last night:
NJ M – 48, O – 43, U-7
MI M – 44, O- 42, U – 10
CA O – 44, M – 43, Barr – 3, U – 9
PA M – 55, O – 33, U – 10He says undecideds are breaking 4:1 for McCain.
If you believe this I have a giant bridge to sell you. LOL.

Just to give you an idea of where things stood and why conservatives are just making stuff up when they say Kerry lead Bush.
Likely voters surveyed in six major showdown states indicated that they are almost evenly split in their support for President Bush and Democratic Sen. John Kerry, according a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll released Sunday.
A separate Gallup poll of likely voters indicated a similar split nationwide, with 49 percent choosing Bush and 47 percent taking Kerry — a virtual tie given the margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. Independent candidate Ralph Nader had 1 percent.
Proposition 8 & California
Tweet
Prop. 8 is just the latest stupid proposition up for a vote in California. It is by far the worst system in the country for deciding on important issues. I don’t understand why people in California put up with the proposition system, where the state legislature abdicates its responsibility and millions of dollars on both sides of an issue flood the state. It is ridiculous.

Disaster Looming…

People forget that the GOP has recently held the advantage when it comes to get out the vote operations. The unprecedented GOTV for John Kerry in 2004 was beaten by one other… George W. Bush. Part of the reason Howard Dean became the DNC chairman was a commitment to a 50-state strategy predicated on maximizing GOTV. In theory, you would think McCain’s people would ratchet up the arms race. Instead, they’re putting more money into TV?
The vaunted, 72-hour plan that President Bush used to mobilize voters in 2000 and 2004 has been scaled back for McCain. He has spent half as much as Obama on staffing and has opened far fewer field offices. This week, a number of veteran GOP operatives who orchestrate door-to-door efforts to get voters to the polls were told they should not expect to receive plane tickets, rental cars or hotel rooms from the campaign.
‘The desire for parity on television comes at the expense of investment in paid boots on the ground,’ said one top Republican strategist who has been privy to McCain’s plans. ‘The folks who will oversee the volunteer operation have been told to get out into the field on their own nickel.’
Wowsers.
Polls Tightening!
Sen. Obama is up by 8 in Gallup’s traditional voter model. That’s the most McCain friendly measure of the state of the race. Perhaps 30 minutes of prime time tv is a good thing for a candidate (duh!).
